We need more impact players, I don't care what race or nationality they are.

Whatever the merits of the argument, if any, this poorly written article is full of nonsense.  Murillo was denied "the dignity of being allowed into the 18 of what could have been his final game"???      A "lunchpail" attitude is a white kid thing?

Just a hunch, but despite all their flaws, I highly doubt our minority head coach and minority former sporting director were actively trying to decrease diversity on the squad. Not the finest article Ive read.

He will be lucky to get a C when he turns that in for his 8th grade English class.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Good lord, I'm a bleeding heart liberal millennial and even I'm having trouble wrapping my head around what an irrelevant an inappropriate use of the race card this is.

Not to disparage anyone at least trying to create content for the team, but some of these new outposts covering Red Bulls desperately need an editor. I'm seeing articles from RBNN, EliteSportNY, even Once A Metro (usually one of the better ones) that are thousands of words longer than they needed to be, or shouldn't have been written in the first place.

Just thinking through the XI:

4 white Americans
3 white Europeans
1 Asian-American
1 black American
1...mixed race South American? (Kaku)
1 black South American

Doesn't really feel like an issue. Not like we're the Red Sox refusing to integrate for 12 years after Jackie Robinson's debut.

This line from the article though:

"Both Armas and Hamlett are each men of color in their own regard."

Feels like it's a half-step from calling them Uncle Toms.

Same and same. It also feels incomplete to write this without mentioning that the team recently hired an Indian woman to run the data department.

We have three supporters groups that can't agree on what to call the team, there's all the diversity a team needs!

We need some red players to up our ny is red game, a red lefty shouldn't be hard to find...

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

The author should also have mentioned the lack of women, Asians and Jews on the roster, while he was at it.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

There's most certainly not a diversity problem here and if you're goal is to build the most diverse team rather than the best team, you should be in social justice and not running a sports team. Stupid article, horrible author.

only diversity on the team needed is less reliance on guys making 55k-80k and more reliance on guys who make way the fuck more than that. suggest that somewhere else however, and it's like you've insulted their mother.
