#1369427 Miazga rejects extension

Posted by RedBullScouse on 20 August 2020 - 08:55 AM

Yeah, my only issue with his choosing Chelsea was whether or not he'd get some PT there. At least he got some run with Vitesse and Reading. Wonder where he'll be loaned to next.

Reading extended the loan for another season.

Can we use it on a coach?

I know you said "establish himself elsewhere" on purpose, but Miazga had done pretty well for himself. Playing in Europe, getting paid a Prem salary and still on the NT radar is not bad at all, even if he's had to go on a number of loans away from Chelsea.

He's established himself well at Reading, with them renewing his loan

...

we spent half that on Kaku

Big question on restart is  Yearwood the destroyer/ball winner we've needed?

Brentford coach: "He is very good at getting around the pitch and does the work we want in terms of pressing and winning the ball back."

"his natural position as a two in midfield" sounds like what we'd call a six, but there's this:

"“He attacks and defends well in equal measure, like midfielders always used to be looked upon. These days we either look at them as a defensive midfielder or an attacking one, but he actually does both sides.

If Tetteh isn't a surefire starter, given the alteratives, there is somerhing very wrong.

this is too correct.  If we ever get to go to a match again, singing "you're the wanderers, your'e the wanders...." would be amusing

Oh, well, you’re the team without a town
From the stench, we’ll know that you’re around
Harrison Orlando Hartford and The Bronx are all the same
You show up,  you lose and leave before they even know  your name

They call you the wanderers
Yeah, the wanderers
You roam around, around, around, around

So what? Goal from an inch away counts the same as a goal from 40 yards away. Might be a reach to interpret anything from one goal outside the box for LAFC.

Being a credible threat from distance forces the defense to open up and creates more opportunities in close.   It contributes to the success teams have had parking the bus on us.

I have no hope hell be fired before (if) the season starts back up. Ive accepted that. But, if we start 2021 with him at the helm, Im done with this team.

Gonna miss having you around

The point made by MF on the other thread, not long ago these two signings, especially so close together, would have been cause for serious celebration.    And if our defense hadn't suddenly disintegrated from arguably the best back 4 in MLS to the shit it is now, I'd probably be pretty hopeful.

But seriously let's make a move for a CF.... I like Juan Camilo Hernández... Watford player.....

I'm sure we can find someone in the RB system, maybe a kid out on loan from Salzburg or someone like that.

The bar's been raised, a few years ago other teams (from smaller markets no less) weren't regularly plunking down 5x the number we paid for Yearwood

Can't speak for others but Jorgensen also completely burned me out on the ~$2M teenage signings. I probably shouldn't let bust from a guy no longer trusted to make signings get to me, but can't shake it.

~$2M teenage signings are great, but you need 5 or 6 of them and hope 2 or 3 turn out useful, and one becomes a star.

transfer is confirmed today now that Brentford's season ended.   He's a young DP but i dont think that is a big deal depending on other targets

https://www.newyorkr...er-dru-yearwood

They very deliberately worded everything to avoid implying he's expected to make an immediate impact.      I can understand being cautious after the hype they  gave Matty Ice, but  a 7-figure international DP HAS to be expected to make an immediate impact.
