No El Lobo?

Did not realize that he was equivalent of a DP.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Looks like you are correct. Senior International?

I do not recall his acquisition being a major story.
http://www.metrofana...r.jsp?YEAR=2003
Of course, he turned out to be a great success.

The big news was the acquisition of DC stars.
http://www.metrofana...ory.jsp?ID=1017
I would categorize that on the fail side.
Meanwhile, low key on our future MVP:

Oh, no, it is not even him!
http://www.metrofana...ory.jsp?ID=1061
No major news splashes:

Is anyone seriously debating if Guevara would have been a DP for us when he played?

Not really. Would his salary at the time have dictated it? What were the Senior International criteria?

I dont think he would be considered a DP although he played like one.

Before he was a metro player, he was playing for Saprisa. I am not aware of any player from Saprisa that was signed by MLS as a DP player.

Guevara was a baller. Dont recall a bad game although it seems ages ago, imagine a player like that on our team. Kaku looked like that at times, but hes been a ghost in league play since last summer.

We spent $ 6m on Kaku a year ago. If we are getting the right guy, I'm ok with us continuing to sign guys like that over & over again. I don't need them to be $ 25m guys per se, I just want the team to seriously consider guys of a significant caliber- basically from Kaku on up. Jorgensen was a $2m depth signing, and maybe he'll pan out, who knows. $2m is a lot on a young kid, I was impressed by that. But there's still another level we're not reaching. I don't mind that we aren't shopping from that $6m level each time, but I do get upset at the theory that we can't *ever* shop at that level. RBNY seems to be hinting that at times with their statements; we'll see what the summer transfer window brings, if anything.  I'm willing to trust the process here, but at the same time I want the club to consider making those investments. Right now, I feel like they shy away from anything too pricey. I'm fine with them not wanting to make an expensive mistake- NYCFC has spent a ton of money and have dick to show for it. But, at the end of the day, it comes down to a question of whether RBNY are going to spend enough to get us over the hump. If we can get there with 3 more Amado Guevaras, ok w me.
