Is there any interest out there in carrying on the legacy of the MetroStars and starting a new team called FC Metro?

Startup costs are very inexpensive, I'm sure we could host a large try-out and put together a decent team.

With some fund raising and luck, we could play in the "Champions League" where the old Metros Reserves once played, or even the PDL, with some funding, down the line....

I have a web designer and ex-professional (Guarani, from the Brazilian first division) coach with NCAA coaching experience waiting in the wings. I also have someone who can design a logo.

Let me know if there is anyone interested in helping to put together something like this...

If you're interested, email FCMETRO7@yahoo.com with ideas or how you'd like to help. Or discuss in this forum...

Alright guys, so we got interest from a credible news source to cover this team if we can attract interest, ala what they did in Manchester when Glazer took over or what they did in Salzburg when Red Bull took over there.

I’m just looking for one or two people to help put this team together, and I’d like to know if this new Metro team would be something that would interest you guys…you know, following the club as we moved up the lower ranks of US Soccer…..building from the ground up, etc.

Just starting a team in GSSL is difficult enough...and fronting the money for league fees, ref fees, etc is a pain in the ass....

Good luck with it.

And its not that much money.

I'd be interested. At this point my interest would be purely in going to games though. Between working full time and going to school full time I've got about all I can handle.

Here's what I have so far:
  • Fields for the Fall, Sunday games, two - three weekly evening training sessions in Secaucus
  • A very good coach who has coached in college, and has played pro in Brasil
  • 5-6 top level players
  • Experience in dealing with the GSSL
  • 25 brand new adidas training jersey's (plus 3 goalie shirts)
  • Someone who can create a professional website for free
  • Someone who can design the logo for free
  • 8 new adidas balls
  • cones
  • semi-new soccer goal nets
Here's what is needed:

INTEREST FROM YOU GUYS....

Would you come to the metros games? Would you follow the team on the internet? Would you possibly donate a few bucks to help fund the teams efforts?

We're in discussions with certain people. We'll see if this kind of project is viable. Expect to see a website up in the next day or two as we gauge interest in such a team.

We are still talking about the garden state soccer league right? Do people other than girlfriends/wives/kids ever go to these games?

I mean we are talking about guys that played some in hs and/or college who have now moved on in their lives and do this for fun on 90 minutes on the weekends.
