Been a pleasant surprise so far.

Can't agree more. Expectations were very low after he was a part time starter on the worst defense in MLS history last year, but the guy proved he is a solid and reliable baller.

Orlando have given us a couple of gifts, first with Collin and now with Tarek. Are they so stacked with CBs year after year, that they can afford to let these guys go for next to nothing? Their record seems to indicate otherwise.

(I know Rivas and Redding were garbage, but I view that trade as clearing SK and his salary so we could sign Kaku. So not really gonna judge that trade harshly.)

Well, if we wanted to clear SK's salary, all we had to do is not to pick up team option on him that year and let him walk. We actually ended up paying Orlando to take Sacha and get their garbage. This was a bad trade, no matter how you slice it. Tarek one was a lot better.

Their thought process behind giving us Collin was purely clearing a veteran with a high price tag from their payroll. That one I can understand. They were not wrong in him being on his last legs either. He was a difference maker for us in 2016, but saw a decline in 2017, and then was to the point of not even making our game day 18 for much of last year.

In the case of Tarek, I think that speaks more to them being just a poorly run organization. Hes relatively young and is obviously physically gifted. They had a clear failure in identifying his talent, utilizing his talent, and implementing a sound and structured defensive philosophy in general.

The Tarek Trade was great. Would send Orlando a 4th round pick again.

We are his tenth team in 9 years so let's see how the rest of the year goes. He's been more than solid so far and we needed that considering poor depth at CB.

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

I don't fully trust Tarek but he's been plenty good.  He has some error prone aspects to him but his game almost perfectly fits this system.  Excellent athleticism and speed and his natural inclination is to snuff things out quickly and that's what this system is about for centerbacks.

I trust him as much as you can trust a defender from the worst defense in MLS history.

Solid solid pickup, but I'm still always a bit nervous.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Fair point, I didnt realize hes bounced around that much. And I wholeheartedly agree, Im in wait and see mode. Safe to say hes exceeded most of our expectations thus far.
