Was this the 1st half formation?
----------------------------------BWP------------------------------------------------Royer----------Kaku---------Tyler-----------------
-----------------------------Davis-------------------------------------
-----Taxi----------------------------Collin--------------Murillo-----
-------------------Long------------------------Parker---------------
---------------------------------Robles-------------------------------
Seems like it's a 4-1-4-1, then sub in Valot, it reverts back to the ol' 4-2-3-1.
Nah, we played the 3-3-3-1 all game long. WHen Collin came off, Murillo moved back to his spot and Tyler went to that RWB spot. Collin sometimes shows higher on heatmaps because he tries to sniff things out so quickly (a quality I absolutely love about him)
Thought Murillo was great this game. We struggled defensively at times but that is as good an offensive team that we'll play this entire season. LA is absolutely loaded. A bunch of guys who don't mess up much and have great vision. When you add in a very motivated Zlatan then you have a team who's going to score goals. Their only hole is defensively and that's partly because guys like Dos Santos don't put in the work defensively.
Allesandrini is ridiculously good.
3 points on the road is huge... Thrilled they managed it. Just hard to win on the road in MLS. I'm convinced it's not so much the travel either. It's just that when teams play at home, they play with more confidence and will. And that subtle change is enough to put teams over the top most of the time.
Also thought Kamara was offside on their first goal but after watching the replay, I think Taxi kept him on all the way over on the other side of the field. (HAVE NO CLUE why VAR was even needed on that one disallowed goal. Screamed at the TV the moment Kamara received the pass)

Take it. Im liking Etienne comming off the bench. He brings a different element to the field
Etienne has no doubt made improvements this year. I like him being used as the forward as well. Essentially takes that spot that Rivas seemed destined for.
Sucks on the Sacha trade... Taking this lesser offer to do him a favor ends up with us having 2 guys who probably won't factor in much at all. SHould have just sent him to Minnesota but everyone was all upset for Dax last year so Marsch foolishly paid attention.

after seeing it the 1st time at Legends, then the re-broadcast, Chapman was trailing the play, DEJr pass it to Taxi, then Taxi crosses it, it hits Romney's elbow, then his back. Chapman blows whistle, Romney walks up to him with a mild protest, Kitchen and Cole are the only LA guys losing their shit about the call. Seems like even Romney knew it.
RIP Guillermo Romulo, Alexander Francis Orig, Celenio Eleazar, and my Mom, Resurreccion Eleazar.

Shouldnt have you hands up
Water bottle throw deserves fine nan
DE looks good - harder to knock off the ball
Good win away from home.
Boy is that offside on Zlatan tight
Myul gets fouled by Zlatan back roundhouse!
Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Linesman/AR was on the far side and possibly screened by passively offside Ibra, so did not see it. With VAR, IIRC they are not to assume. Let play continue, with review if there is a goal. TG the system worked.

Like the lineup but prefer Fidel over Collin for the back 3. Worried Zlatan will get Collin in red faced goon mode, and take the team out of rhythm with stoppages to argue.
I'd like to see this as well. Collin has looked like a complete butcher lately in the back 3 and he's a walking red card. Escobar impressed early in the year before the injury and I'd like to see more of him.
We were way too open defensively in this game. Giving Zlatan and Dos Santos and Alessandrini so much space when up 2 goals was stupid. We needed to keep our shape much more compact and we struggled mightily with that. Have to work on our defensive shape be it back 3 or back 4.
The Etienne sub also changed the game. Good to have a difference maker like that off the bench but I'd also like to see him from the start in a few games.
Credit to Jesse for getting Collin out of there and moving to the back 4 and it worked with the Valot goal but then for whatever reason it all went to shit. Other teams may pack it in when down 2 but not LA with the amount of talent they have.

The Zlatan offside call is... iffy at best. They are even, Zlatan is what, half a body in front? "Half a body"? Isn't that supposed to go to the attacker? And how can anyone make that call and not be questioned?
That being said,
Sometimes these things even out over time... And no call was as bad as the one above.

If you are even a step in front, it's offside. LA has no right to complain about their two disallowed goals. The pk call was very questionable. That's the only complaint they can have about the officiating.
