At a minimum, I think of him at least once a month when I go to an American Legion meeting and we recite prayers honoring our dead comrades who gave their lives for America.
In reality, it's more than that though.

A year ago today was the last time I heard my brothers voice. The once vibrant, uber confident ADHD funny guy, left a message on my phone, he spoke with such forbearance knowing damn well what laid in front of him. I wasn't a fan of his obnoxious laugh and constant need to fight me tooth and nail my every word, like a father and a son argue in essence I was his father. I admired him a great deal, the energy he exuded seem to seep out of every single pore in his body it was so infectious you simply couldn't escape it.
The Army says he died a hero, that because of him accepting his last mission a hundred other army fools lived...August 1st ha officially become the worst day in the calendar for me since it was time he was alive. I miss him so much and my heart aches every time I think of him not being with us to enjoy all the madness that is going on, he lived for that stuff. Time does indeed heal, I miss him because I loved him so much and I will never get to see him again, and that pretty much sucks to the umph degree.
THE ALIENS
Charles Bukowski
you may not believe it
but there are people
who go through life with
very little
friction of distress.
they dress well, sleep well.
they are contented with
their family
life.
they are undisturbed
and often feel
very good.
and when they die
it is an easy death, usually in their
sleep.
you may not believe
it
but such people do
exist.
but i am not one of
them.
oh no, I am not one of them,
I am not even near
to being
one of
them.
but they
are there
and I am
here.

My thoughts are with his family, and that includes all of us in the squad.
