and it's official

that's almost a wrap, at best expect some draftees (maybe) and if we are really lucky a winger to cap it

according to this article on MLSsoccer.com Keane and Juninho no longer count as INT, also Husidic seems to be domestic as well.

The Gs ship Hector Jimenez and their first-round superdraft pick to Columbus for the Crew's second round pick plus allocation money.

Is this in anticipation of a move or to allow for one we've made?

based on the last released numbers (no allocation money etc used) the G's have about 640'000 of budget left

(still counting Cudicini's 150), however not knowing Husidic, Samuel and Friends $ numbers, as well as Sarvas new deal.

I'm hoping the G's have the means to add a wide midfielder in the "Wilhelmson"' mould (better end product, target skills tough), maybe in coordiation with the whole Cudicini thing.

I still think he's gone, but until it's official, I'll still count him.

ETA to bad about Jimenez, sure he had his up and downs, but was a affordable young-ish winger.

Always thought he'd make the jump to starter after an extended run in the XI

G's draft CB Kyle Venter

G's sign 2 Homegrown players (Raul Mendiola, Bradford Jamieson) and likely a 3rd (rumored to be Villarreal's brother)

We signed a new player this year in Raul Menidola and Bradford Jamieson and we’ll probably sign another one in the near future. We believe in the Homegrown Players,” said Arena at the 2014 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday.

G's are close to get a foreign wide midfielder

Nice and succinct flow chart, as clear a summary as we're likely ever to see.

Still, I can't help but feel it's not entirely comprehensive:  I saw no references to Ouija boards, the phases of the moon, or 'we just felt like doing something different, like giving some crappy team(s) their pick of the Galaxy's players.'

hey look, another new rule... MLS lntra-league loan

The intra-league loan mechanism was approved for use in in 2013, but teams did not take advantage of it. It's a way for clubs to provide playing time to younger players on their roster – only players 24 years or younger are eligible – without entirely giving up their rights. At the end of the 2014 campaign, Cascio will return to the Rapids.

According to a Rapids spokesperson, as part of the loan agreement Cascio will not be eligible to play vs. Colorado:

In the meantime, Colorado open up a roster slot and free up salary budget space for other moves...

Cudicini and Stephens gone

A LOOK AT THE GALAXY ROSTER

Of the 31 players that were on the Galaxy roster at the end of the 2013 MLS season, 23 are scheduled to return to the club for the 2014 campaign. The eight players that have left the club or were not offered new contracts are Colin Clark, Laurent Courtois, Carlo Cudicini, Sean Franklin, Hector Jimenez, Pablo Mastroeni, Michael Stephens, and Jose Villarreal.

Franklin was selected by DC United in Stage 1 of the 2013 MLS Re-Entry Process, Jimenez was traded to the Columbus Crew, Mastroeni announced his retirement in December while Villarreal will spend the 2014 campaign on loan to Cruz Azul of Mexico’s Liga MX.

Joining the Galaxy for the 2014 season are Brazilian forward Samuel, who signed on a year-long loan from Brazilian side Fluminense, Canadian target forward Rob Friend, who signed from German club TSV 1860 Munich and midfielder Baggio Hušidić, who joins LA from Swedish Superettan side Hammarby.

The trio of new signings will be joined by University of New Mexico defender Kyle Venter, who was drafted by the LA Galaxy with the fourth pick of second round of the MLS SuperDraft.

as for G2 (aka Galaxy II) - here are the rules known so far

The Galaxy will be able to loan first-team players to the USL side as often as they wish.

Technical director Jovan Kirovski and Galaxy II head coach Curt Onalfo are seeking players to sign to USL contracts.

These players, and Academy players who may train and play with the second team, would not be eligible to play in MLS unless they sign a MLS deal.

“You can loan players [to Galaxy II] all the time and bring them back, so it's a lot of freedom,” Arena said.

“There are restrictions on those players that are USL players, we can discover them and sign them [to MLS contracts].”

The first team and USL team will train separately.

James Riley on trial too

31-year old attack-minded right back?  Sounds like an older Sean Franklin.

It's undoubtedly the "older" part that Bruce is intrigued by.

well, one trialist fullback (Hall) was released, looks more an more likely Riley will be the back up fullback at RB and LB.

Also Villarreal got loaned to Cruz Azul Hidalgo (Mex Div 2)
