The fact that he could step in and play Saturday is welcomed. The sooner they fix one of the biggest weaknesses on the team it could have a ripple effect.

Duncan is athletic and a good on ball defender, he has lapses with runners from time to time but maybe teams will target that side of the field less now.

Every team attacks DNealis and it proved fruitful especially after Reyes wasnt in there to clean up mistakes. With a Duncan/Reyes pairing we should hopefully ship less goals.

Does he have to serve a red card suspension when he gets here?

I have seen several fans say that Duncan is Tolkin's backup at LB. That may be the case, though I see Dylan Nealis as the backup in Struber's eyes. However, do people not remember just how much worse Duncan was at LB than RB when he was here? It's really inexcusable that they didn't bring in an actual backup LB.

Neither can play LB and better than a typical USL LB.    It is inexplicable and inexcusable that they pick up a serviceable body to play behind Tolkin.   Pick up Sean Totsch for basically nothing and let they guy end his career in MLS.

I remember he was part of Lawrence/Murillo/Duncan rotation at RB/LB, and did pretty well when he had to step in. Better than a typical LB sub. That was the upsetting part, to go from Lawrence/Murillo/Duncan to likes of Seagrist, Pendant, Egbo as starters or subs. Now, if we have Edwards back, we could have Edwards/Tolkin/Duncan, which may not quite be Lawrence/Murillo/Duncan of the past, but very good.

If Tolkin goes down, Edwards/Duncan is not like Murillo/Lade, which we had against Atlanta in 2018 play-offs and got burned. Duncan can hold his own at LB, and is a clear upgrade to Pendant and really most other LB subs in MLS. Now, if Edwards leaves, which is what it is looking like, it's a different story.

Exactly. If we retain Edwards, Duncan's presence can help address one of our biggest problems. If he leaves, it's basically a wash, maybe even worse for the overall needs of the team even though I really like Duncan.

I have 40 minutes of blind faith left that a striker is on his way.

Lets hope Elias Manoel becomes the Neymar of MLS.

It's hard to say if we'd be better with Edwards or Duncan.  Last season, a lot of our best attacking soccer came from Duncan's involvement in the build up.  As good as Amya's been, we're missing something in transition (maybe Davis?).  We'll see how much Duncan can help.  Hopefully, there's still a chance Edwards is coming back...

I don't see Edwards as competition for Duncan even if he stays. Struber likes the 3 CB formation and Edwards isn't a good wingback.

Duncan would be fighting Nealis and Harper for minutes, and should win those easily.

Edwards would be left fighting Reyes for minutes at CB, and honestly I think Reyes is better there too.

How about Sean Nealis being the odd man out? With Reyes and Long, you still have a sizeable backline. Sean is utterly terrible with the ball on his feet and is slow. Reyes/Long/Edwards is a great balance of speed, 1v1 defending, and skill on the ball.

His would be gone as fast as his agent can pull a Kaku.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Paging David carney David carbey to the emergency LB courtesy phone please
In all seriousness
Klimala is the obvious back up

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Today Duncan played like an absolute shit. Worse than Nealis on a bad day. Harper was a clear improvement over him. I get that he didn't play much in Belgium, and I don't know how long it takes him to get into game form, but he does not look like Duncan from last year at all and we need him to contribute now. Play-offs are far from a lock. The way he looked today is not a wash with Edwards, it's downgrade from Nealis.
