Because Garber (after overseeing the demise of NFL Europe) is willing to have MLS do anything for money. Doesn't care if English speakers can enjoy the Friday game (still no FIOS SAP and the streaming English commentary was off by at least five seconds once again) and will gladly let UniMas do anything it wantst to the broadcast as long as they tell him he's important.

I get all that but if they weren't showing that entire Mexican game anyway then why do the split screen at all.

It's Univision's revenge for 2002.

Was able to get the English stream on FIOS finally, I found the tweet below that has a workaround

Now you're telling me that you have FIOS in VHO5 and you were able to get SAP? I've tried the logical, normal thing (which gets SAP for every other f*****g channel FIOS carries) and it didn't work, but I just tried this and at least the procedure leads to a different set of menus. I'll try it next time, thanks for your post (regardless whether it works or not).

I'd say MLS couldn't figure this out but I'm sure they don't care. :)

My guess is "contractual" (although I'm sure Garber would have bent over and let them do just the Mexican game if they'd asked).

I noticed that the time slot allocated for the broadcast was extra short on UD (I forget but I think it was only 7-8:30) while it was either two or two and a half hours on UniMas (FWIW).

Liga MX is the most watched league in the United States. I'd assume MexMNT is the most watched NT or at least we're tied with them.
