And LA has slowly improved. Used to be there would be no presence against Central American teams, now there is. No, they can't competeI love L.A. but given its history with supporting the USMNT, if I'm Sunil I'd also stay clear. There have been multiple chances
against Mexico, and may never, but having games here every year was convenient for training and did have a gradual impact on the fanbase. Most American Nat fans willing to cheer against Mexico were there - in comparison with 1998, the US has made vast strides. At least you could tell there were US fans last year.
Absolutely no reason to put a qualifier here, but since it was Antigua, there was also no reason not to. Florida also means that more Antiguans will show, but I dunno how important that will be. Actually, if it's important at all, everyone involved should be fired.

Like the old one (current?) better. Try to go too retro and kinda killed it. Hope it looks better in person and/or with the full kit.

Unfortunately I think we'll see this from Gooch going forward. He'll always be injury-prone.
Beyond an aging Bocanegra, the CB selections are down to Ream, Cameron, Parkhurst and possibly George John.

That's the other one - he tore the patellar tendon on the left knee in '10.
Eight weeks isn't bad for this sort of thing.

"Gooch out 2 months with ligament tear."
I blame this on my buddy Pat. Gooch is/was one of his favorite players and was the first US Soccer jersey he purchased, a big step for someone who doesn't purchase a lot of jerseys. That was mere weeks before Gooch's knee exploded for the first time.
Today is Pat's Birthday. Happy Birthday Pat, why couldn't you have bought a Ricardo Clark jersey instead?

Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Nick Rimando
Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Geoff Cameron, Timmy Chandler, Steve Cherundolo, Clarence Goodson, Michael Parkhurst, Jonathan Spector
Midfielders: Michael Bradley, Maurice Edu, Fabian Johnson, Jermaine Jones, Jose Torres, Danny Williams
Forwards: Jozy Altidore, Terrence Boyd, Edson Buddle, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan
One minor surprise in Terence Boyd getting a call up to the senior squad.
One sort of head scratcher with the omission of Klejstan, who has been playing well and regularly for Anderlecht in the Belgium league.

I was one who said I never wanted to see Sacha on the NT again...but hear he's been doing well in Belguim. Really wish we had Gooch...he was doing so well in Portugal & looked to be his old self! Oh well, hope he's not getting "injury-prone", like Stuart Holden

Four of the eighteen are Germans. Aren't there several U.S. Military bases in Italy? Why don't we have Italian/Americans to add to our teams?Roster for Friendly against Italy next week:

Verbeek: "Altidore is no progression"
Jozy Altidore signed with great fanfare last summer, a four-year contract with AZ. The striker has now landed on the bench and coach Gertjan Verbeek is not satisfied with him.
Verbeek gives preference to a few weeks Charlison Benschop in the point of attack. Verbeek explains why in Voetbal International. "I think he makes progress, unlike Altidore. And stop deterioration. If another continues to evolve, you become obsolete."
Yet the role of Altidore has not played in AZ, emphasizes Verbeek. "That I did not suddenly hate Jozy. But the team now functions better with Charlie, that everyone sees. Both players is still a lot of tinkering. Has all to do with awareness."

Dear Klinsi,
Do not start Jozy. But, if you feel you must, don't put him up top alone. He needs a helper.
