25 year old Colombian striker, plays for River Plate.  Scored 12 goals in 20 league games in 2020.

 

Contract expires on 6/30/21, so he's not a 'free' player.  He can be signed to a pre-contract without a fee, but he wouldn't get here until July.  If we want him now, it'll cost something unless he's released early from his contract.  Which is unlikely since he seems to be a productive player.

 

Transfermkt puts his value at $11 million.

 

Between RBNY and NYCFC, he obviously fills a large hole for RBNY and would make sense.  NYCFC just offloaded two pricey players, so it looks like they're making room for some new players.  But they have Castellano and Heber up top, so I don't know if it's a striker they're looking for.

 

Edit:  Maybe Milo could give us the scoop on this guy.

I doubt this is real....River is preparing for their Copa Libertadores semifinal against Palmerias (Tuesday) and Santos Borre is part of their plans.

I'm not buying the rumor but I don't see how his preparing for that game would preclude RBNY or anyone else from pursuing him.

Miami "running out of money" could always be an outside interpretation of "can't meet salary demands because of filled DP spots".

But I doubt he's linked to us, probably NYCFC.

 

He isn't a Euro 2nd division reject, so we probably won't get him.
