Josh Simms has played like 30 games in 5 years.  That's a bold statement that he's better than Rodriguez.

And Rodriguez has played 11 Uruguayan Premier League and handful of continental matches over the past couple of years...

We'll see, but it's not much of a stretch to think that Sims is better at this point in time. In a couple of years, it will probably be very different.

LAFC doesn't need Rodriguez to put them over the top right now. RB's situation is different.

Of course, it's also possible that Rodriguez had no interest in coming here once LA became interested.

you joke, but someone posted a NY Times article earlier that gave some insight in how soccer transfers work in europe, and a lot of it is essentially whatsapp messages back and forth

yeah there is a similar article in the athletic.  a ton of whatsapp messages until its finer details time
