Also, anyone try the array of Goose Island Beers?

Yeah.  Matilda is a really tasty Belgian pale ale.  Doesn't have that yeasty flavor of a lot of BPAs.  And Bourbon County Stout is a beast of a beer.  It's almost too much for one sitting (more in terms of flavor but it does pack a hefty 14.5% ABV).  I haven't had any of their recent offerings since Anheuser-Busch bought them last March.  The beer should still be the same high quality but the recipes might change a little since there is a new head brewer.

I could be mistaken but I think the price of beer went up this year at the HDC. Oh well, more pre-boozing before the game then.

$9.50 for a black and tan now.

The reason they need this job is the guy who runs (ran?) it is a huge dickhead. He failed to keep neighborly relations with the place that was hosting his brewing operation (Alpine Village) and is just a general asshat in person based on the beer fest visits to his stand ive made over the years. If that guy is still involved, this is guaranteed be a shitty job. I'm surprised Boston Brewing is getting in bed with them if he's still around. Also, they make a nice dunkel, but how often does one thirst for a dunkel? I want them to succeed, so whatever happens, I hope it results in more good beer and less assholes.

On April 7, 1933 President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). Despite the low ABV, Americans were thrilled to be able to purchase beer for the first time in thirteen years!

Happy National Beer Day!

I seriously asked myself this today looking for a German beer for my father-in-law who is coming over tomorrow and went to college in Germany. I went for a pilsner.

There is no doubt that the Angel City Dunkel is top notch. It was my go to beer in the OCP days. They almost always had it on tap.

Tried some Old Orange Brewing Co. on Saturday at a little bar in Orange. Had their Hef and the IPA. The IPA was just ok.  But, surprisingly I preferred and enjoyed the "OOBerweizen."

Xingu Black is a great dark beer that pairs really well with red meat, which most dark beers tend not to.
