World Cup TV ratings are down 42% since the USMNT didn't make the tournament....
Makes you wonder what the ratings will be like in 4 years when the World Cup goes head to head with the NFL, NBA, NHL, and college basketball all at once. The start times of the matches will be somewhat similar to what they have been for this year.
Any guess on which English language broadcast outlet will be available to show the tournament? All the major networks are pretty much booked solid after noon on the weekends.
On Friday one of the guys in my department was going on and on about the fix being in for Russia and his pick for the final is Russia 3 - Japan 1. Just before leaving we had the following conversation:
Me: If your prediction comes to pass you can have my paychecks for the rest of the year.
Him: You're on, and I have 3 witnesses to back me up.
Refused to spend a dime on them at home since the move to Barclays.
Glad I can eventually start going to Isles home games again. Made the trip out to Uniondale 2-3 times a year from North Jersey for more than 30 years before the move to Brooklyn in addition to seeing them against the Devils at the Meadowlands or in Newark.
Hopefully the return home will finally bring "One for the Thumb", an achievement which is currently one of the top 3 on my bucket list.
The way the Mexican fans started fleeing the stadium at 4-0 I thought for a moment I was watching a Rangers playoff ass beating at the Garden. Wasn't surprised at all when the side quit on the field with 30 minutes left in the game. It was such a stunning development for the El Tri fans they couldn't even muster the desire to litter the field with bottles after the next 3 Chilean goals.
My daughter has one of his "game worn" jerseys. She stalked that poor bastard for I don't know how many weeks before he gave one to her. It is still in her closet along with the Hunter Freeman jersey she snatched the night the team honored the Virginia Tech shooting victims.
As far as the Metros jersey, how come no one mentioned Caricola? He is after all the one who set this franchise upon the sadsack road it has traveled for 20 years.
If RB DOES sell, expect a group of fans that will still support them. You can figure out who.
They will be much easier to marginalize if the team is no longer a living, breathing product advertisement. Protesting a new ownership group has a lot less bite than protesting a clueless, uncaring owner.
