...

I see Clark more as a forward instead of a winger. The kid is a good finisher. I would like to see him play white's Klimala's position and have royer play Clark's position.

How's that gonna work?     Especially when Royer gets traded.

Has Amaya ever played up top?   With all the holding mids we have, seems odd to spend those Garber Bucks on another guy there.

I keep going back to the theory that Sean Davis is our best fit (given the current roster) for the top of the diamond right now.   It's where he played when we first got him.  Elite progressive passing ability, reads the game well (elite interception stats) calm quick decision making, willing to press...

the only options there are Davis, Amaya or Clark.  No one else is calm enough on the ball otherwise.

Struber clearly likes Diara as the 6, and Clark seems a more natural fit for the wide/shuttler role.   So Amaya seems to have been targeted for that job, but he isn't here and hasn't proven anything yet.    Until then....

The team played very hard in the first half. Caden Clark's goal was very nice early in the 2nd half. That being said Gutman should never see the field ever again has he is a liability to make stupid ass mistakes. Carlos Coronel needs to wake the fuck up, and I dont mean his goal saving ability. We are down a goal in the 2nd half and he takes his sweet ass time to get the ball back into play during a goal kick on multiple occasions. WTF. We need urgency.

I dont think Clark is more natural as a shuttler (but can do both equally as well).  But even if he is, Casseres is so unnatural as a 10 that it would be worth the move.

So we trade Parker, spend a shitload on Reyes, and start Nealis. OK.

In the meantime Parker was being man-handled by a punny 17 year kid...

Hand ball in the box sucks, but this is an overreaction. People have arms.

He was pretty sloppy with the ball beyond that handball.   Great effort, but he needs some discipline.

Agreed on the discipline. It looked like he was pounding Red Bulls right before the match then crashed at halftime.

Tale of 2 halves. Was the best player on the field in the first half.

Second half, at one point he fell down in the box chasing a ball he was no where close to. I thought he was injured but he got up pretty quickly. Then the handball. Then not even close to his man on the cross.

Massive upgrade from Pendant, just hoping he stays composed throughout the season.

everyone crashed after the 60th minute but this was literally our second game (including preseason) against a MLS team with several new starters.  I think judging people more on second half vs first half may not be the best way to tell if they are good.

This is exactly how I viewed the match on saturday night.

MLS isnt a sunday beer league, Gutman needs to be more disciplined or he will cost us many matches.

you dont think after conceding a handball 60 secs before he would be a little hesitant to full out go after a cross...lol

If Nealis kept the offside trap / defensive line that goal wouldnt have happened.  usually fullbacks make that mistake so Nealis being the one keeping everyone on was really bad.  And then Duncan compounded situation by falling asleep.  Gutman responsibility for second goal is minimal.

Why is Nealis starting?

Rhetorical.
