That's pretty funny.  I don't know the guy, maybe he's a great guy and a great coach.  But they have to go to South Africa to hire an assistant coach?  At least they can't be accused of recycling the same old names.

Yeah, the ties are with Rangnick.  Could be a couple things but I think the most likely is "Give my friend a job."  That can work out as well because he very well could end up being a good addition.

Never a fan of a head coach not having his guys around him.  Marsch should be making all of the hires.  He needs people he can trust fully.

Apparently, he was once punched out by a teammate:

Assistant is... Bradley Carnell???

Carnell, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, most recently served as an assistant coach with the Orlando Pirates in South Africa's Premier Soccer League. As a player, the defender totaled over 300 professional appearances, mostly in the Bundesliga.

Kinda figured it would be him.

Marsch is going to be in Austria by July, so I'd rather he not hire anyone.

An article said that he wouldn't even have his license by summer 2018 so don't think that can happen.

You don't actually need the license to coach in Europe. It's just a nice hook to hang your hat on...

That's not true. A UEFA Pro license is required for any permanent manager in a first division UEFA league. It also applies to Champions League and Europa League. I think that there are even some lower leagues that require, like the second and third divisions in Germany. That was an issue for Joe Enochs back in 2011, when  he temporarily took over at Onasbruck. He later received his UEFA license and became the full time manager in 2015.

You can get a waiver type deal if you are currently working on the license, I believe.

Not sure but I managed to dig around and find the shortlist of targets that they've identified after months of searching
