Shield guarantees home field advantage the whole way in the playoffs and that's enough reason for me to always want them to win it.

We just need to finish better than every team in the West, which we should. Home field advantage in the home-and-away series leading up to MLS Cup isnt much, given both teams get a home match.

I was no big fan of Muyl for the longest time but he's really starting to win me over as time goes.  Marsch used to constantly say it but I just chalked it up as Marsch's blind spot but Muyl really does so many things that help a team win.  The graph from the analytics site showed it as well, Muyl just causes chances when he's on the field.  Directly and indirectly.  You just have to understand that he's going to screw up unbelievably in moments where you don't think it's possible.

Muyl as a sub or a spot starter is about as good as it gets in MLS. He cant be a starter on a team with ambition, but hes the perfect role player.

The only thing that worries me about this game is the soggy pitch, it can be an equalizer.

We don't control what Atlanta does anyways.

Except for September 30!

it's why the team should've taken care of business in Vancouver.

Or rested starters in Vancouver.

Their coach is dumber than a bag of hammers??????

Didnt he also pass on Taxi?  Long may Benny reign in DC.

This move is probably a combination of DC not valuing youth and Red Bull believing in and regularly playing guys like Muyl, Valot, & Etienne. If you were a young player, is there a team youd rather play for than us?

Looking at ATL after the international break they have away in Colorado, away in San Jose then Home vs RSL all in a week.

Cant see them getting 9/9 in that stretch.

You cant?  Quakes are in the midst of one the worst seasons in MLS history and RSLs road record is atrocious. Maybe you can argue that Rapids are in a bit of resurgence with the Acosta acquisition, but I think its very plausible they get 9 out of 9.

Uhhh, not exactly guy.

DE could have easily had three assists on the night if his teammates had their finishing boots on.

RB2 will make debut at the baseball field tonight!@

Of course why wouldn't we see starters.

Yea, after starting everyone in Vancouver, if Armas rests anyone against City, he should be replaced by Woly before the Sunday's match versus DC.

Our starters could lose away at Vancouver. Its not like its a guaranteed win if they play. Vancouver is one of those teams, where Davies or Kamar could have themselves a big game and win at home against whoever we throw out there.

We could argue all day, but Ill never be swayed from thinking a fully rested Best XI versus City is the way to go. And, I cant buy the argument these guys are pros and playing mid-week game on short rest isnt an issue. I see too many excellent coaches rotate in this situation to believe that.

If we are going to play our starters on short rest, Id rather do it against City and DC than Van and City. Rest SOME players Saturday and then play the first XI in the City and DC matches.

We have a champions league game coming up?!?!?

No, but a 6-point Derby (second in 5 match in 15 day stretch) is the next tier.  Its definitely a bigger match, with much larger implications, than away to a Western team.

Everyone is on a full week of rest so you play your best 11.

Each one of these games that happen afterwards you rotate 2 guys max with the caveat being that Bradley and Kaku never sit at the same time and you only rotate 1 of the back 4 at a time...and also that Collin never starts.

Everyone gets a rest while maintaining continuity.

Why not proactively rest a couple, few players on Saturday and play the Best XI against City on Wednesday?

Think we are going to see a mostly first team lineup this game going off of what Armas said yesterday.  Said things along the line of not getting too cute with squad rotation and pointed out the time between games.
Really I think the game we see most of the rotation is going to be the Weds home game against Houston on the 29th.  It's only 2 days off before that game and we have another on the saturday with 2 days off before that.    Each of the other games we have 3 days off in between.

Bradley didn't rotate his LAFC when they came to play us, and they lost that game, the Open Cup match in the midweek, AND at home the following weekend versus SKC.  Can't say all three losses were down to lack of rotation, but could they have beaten Houston with fresher legs?
Our match against City is clearly more important than this Vancouver match.  It's a six-pointer - any distance we can put between us and the third place team, helping us secure a bye, is crucial.

So, if BWP is just a spot sub, why even bring him?
Spare him the 5,000 mile round trip.

I wouldnt mind that at all. If we have any chance at MLS Cup, we need BWP healthy and rested.
