The trade ended the Red Bulls’ long-held desire to nab the 25-year-old center back, who Marsch coached against in 2013 and 2014 while he was a volunteer assistant at Princeton and Parker was playing at St. John’s. The Long Island native made his first appearance for New York on Tuesday, going the full 90 in the Red Bulls’ huge 2-0 win at Tijuana in the first leg of their Concacaf Champions League quarterfinal series.

We’ve aggressively been trying to pursue him and get him for, I would say, the better part of two years. It finally became available and we’re really happy to have him here.”

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Hes been a great acquisition (Parker). As big as Kaku has been going forward, Parker has meant nearly that much in the back. He & Long are really solid together. We might not have 3DPs, but Parker & Kaku have been massive for us this year.

What are people's thoughts on Parker becoming the 3rd DP next year?  I can't think of an upgrade to Parker without spending DP money anyway.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

that's a salary that's $1.5m or better, aka BWP money. Long needs a raise, too.

Just makes me think about how Parker and Taxi are the starters who DIDN'T make the All Star team... that is one stacked defense, and every one of them, except maybe Long, is at risk.   Fingers crossed on Duncan coming back strong.

We have enough TAM to take care of him...when MLS decides not to block his contact.

I can only think of one, and fortunately its Aaron Long.

Looking back on the trade I'm surprised at how little we've missed Felipe, but I think that's just because of how good Davis has gotten. It was rough going in the middle for awhile when we lost Dax, I was worried it'd be a little of the same with Felipe but that hasn't been the case at all.

I felt so terrible. I respect the sanctity of another man's wallet. I kept apologizing!

Ha, JCO got JCO fired. One of the worst seasons in team history, and the guy refused to play with a consistent lineup. Hes proven himself to be a capable manager in the past 9 years, but boy, was he terrible back in 2009.

I said I got him FINED, not fired, lol!

And Agoos was at least 50% culpable for that mess, AFAIC.
