The number of federations that compete in the men's WC (starting at qualification) is around 200. A much lower number compete in the women's WC. How many exactly I do not know. And countries where women are banned from watching soccer are certainly not going to have a women's team.


Iran has a women's team.

They first entered qualifying for the 2011 tournament, they just aren't very good.

143 countries attempted to qualify for the 2019 tournament.

Women's soccer registration in the US has been rising, and men's have been falling. The ussf is hiding the stats because they will show that there are more registered women's soccer players than men soccer players. They want to hide it because the ussf is dominated by men.
