Best academy in the U.S ?
kinda sorta.
yes.
Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me? Or indeed with wit to understand me?

kinda sorta.
yes.
We're not a player we just crush a lot.
Seriously though, our academy teams win a lot of titles. Getting to translate to the next level isn't easy, but, we're sitting on the Saudi Arabia of soccer talent. Down to us & LA for bragging rights. (They've got a shitload of MLS cups tho.)
When you consider us having Jozy, Howard & Bradley on the Nats, you can't help but wonder what might have been had we been able to use this setup of academy teams & a great training center starting back in 1996.
Fuck, it's annoying to think about.

I thought D'Andrea(?) wasn't bad, was decent 1v1, good moves with the ball, making defenders look silly-ish.

The kid who came in for Powder, O'Toole, was really good too.

yeah, o'toole had an immediate impact. back to d'andrea for a second, he seems to be a left-footed player that consistently broke his defender down 1v1 and drove down the sideline often. i was impressed by that. on the left, they did well, too, but d'andrea was making some of the colombian players look foolish.
the commentators were gushing over the DIM team's accomplishments in the tournament, as they should, since they made the final. our u17s really did play the game almost exactly like our senior team. i liked that.
i look fwd to seeing any of these kids either sign a pro HG contract with us or return to us with the PDL team when they go off to college. lots of kids in the pipeline, let's see who makes it

D'Andrea had a great game. He doesn't get a lot of minutes for the U16s, but that's obviously going to change. The combination of physical and technical ability was great.

is it because he looks to be taller/bigger and uses that to his advantage at this lvl? does he have a pdl/college future, has he reached his skills plateau or is there room for him to develop even more?

He definitely has a college future.
It's tough to judge who will keep improving and who won't. Honestly, I haven't seen enough of him. He looks good though. That was a good Independiente team and he was running rings around them. Some players work hard and improve (Kyle Duncan: not getting minutes to getting call ups to the U18 National team), some show up out of nowhere and take over (Juan Sebastian Sanchez), and others stop performing due to not caring.

loved watching him break down players on the far side of the field, and i saw powder do the same on the closer side of the field (camera angle wise), to the delight of the younger RBNY players chanting with their support.

Watched both the Sport Recife game and the Independiente Medellin games. It was like two different RBNY teams.

I'm too lazy to make a new thread, but I *think* we qualified for this again. The East standings before the final game are here: http://www.mlssoccer...adidas-cup/2016
In the final game, we came back to tie TFC 2-2, then won the PK shootout. This gives us the same record as TFC but a much better GD (although we did lose to them earlier in head-to-head). So I dunno. Maybe we won the East.

The final score was 9-8 in PKs. Apparently our keeper made a save.
