Welcome to Chicago next year Sean Davis!

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Good for him! Nice to see a local kid get the armband.

If Im Aaron Long, who has been captaining the US National Team...... and RB wont make me the captain, nor will they let me go to the Premirship......Im probably not thrilled.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Long captaining the Nats May have more to say about the leadership on that team.

Good for Davis, although this means Armas has him in over RZA as one of the two deep lying CMs, which wasnt the case by the end of last season. Hoping his play steps up and we see a Davis closer to 2018 than 2019.

There were better choices, there were worse choices.

Congrats to Sean.

Aaron wanted it as surest ticket out of town!

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Alright. I don't love it, but I like the idea of a kid captaining his boyhood club. I have high expectations for him this year.

Article doesn't say but isn't it pretty common for the players to choose the captain?

of the players left on the roster, i would have preferred

1. Long

2. Meara (assuming he's starting)

3. Davis

Davis is a spot starter at best. I hope him getting the armband doesnt mean he'll be an automatic starter this year.  i would rather see Rza and CCJ than Davis and CCJ in the midfield.

Tin foil hat time. Is this a sign that the team still expects to sell Long this year, likely during the summer? He seems on paper like a clear cut choice as captain.

Facing the likelihood that Long may still be looking for a transfer come summer time, it makes more sense to make Davis the captain.  This is true whether the team wants to sell or not.  The last thing you want are reports that your captain wants to leave the team.  Hard to think of anything much worse for team morale.

I just hope he is held to the same standard as everyone else

If someone isnt performing they shouldnt just keep their job because they are captain

Johnny, we hardly knew ye!

iirc, Davis was on Marsch's 'Leadership Council' after Dax was traded.

Would being captain add to his market value?
