Don't be a dick.

But lots of times we are.

3 things we often bitch about...

1) the lack of participation in our sections

2) the lack of participation from sections around us

3) the rest of the crowd wanting to do the wave

#1 is fine. When we get lazy, we need some motivation and coming from within works. At least sometimes.

#2 runs counterproductive to seeing what we want: more participation from the rest of the crowd. Bitching amongst ourselves about it is alright. If you were Joe Prawn-eater and you were maybe just starting to dig the chants and then you get screamed at cuz you're not joining in, that's probably gonna make you less likely to join in, not more likely. Encourage or ignore.

#3 We're already standing. So why pretend to sit when the wave rolls around? Or why gripe when it you see it. You don't like the wave. Ignore it. Any other reaction harks back to #2.

God bless Dan Loney for speaking truth to The Man that we historically kept down.

And trust me, Katrina and The Waves will NEVER play a gig in New Orleans.

Personally, I've found that it's best to just completely ignore everyone in the other sections.

They frequently have a good time watching us, but when one of our members starts interacting with them, even if they're just trying to be nice, it almost never goes as intended.

Let the cappo try to get them involved if they have the inclination.

As for the wave, it doesn't matter if we try to sit down, throw our hands up or whatever, they never seem satisfied with it, so just ignore them.

What I never understood was why you would do ANYTHING when a wave was coming. If you are standing, and then sit down - THATS A WAVE. Sometimes contrarianism can blind logic.
