I have the app on Android TV device (Nvidia Shield baby, get one!), but Android OS is on 70% of smartphones worldwide, and sometimes people need to watch games on their phones. MLS should press the megacorp with the resources to make said app in .0025 seconds to just get it done. Make it MLS Season Pass only if they need to keep their precious iContent ecosystem from the unwashed hordes of Android users.

After checking out a lot of the MLS content (free right now!) last night I was starting to see the vision of the apple deal - making fans of teams into fans of the league a la the NFL. Classic one step forward, a leaping flop backwards.

 

I swear this playoff format is "lets see how much interest in the league we can bleed off over the course of the playoffs." Fans are gonna feel fatigued and relieved when their teams are eliminated, not interested in watching more.

Look at this convoluted fan-unfriendly nonsense. A best of three series has to be one of the stupidest fuckin Americanization-of-soccer moves I have ever heard of. These apple execs clearly dont know that elimination soccer can be kinda cautious and boring. This is THE reason to hate the deal.

 

Single elimination with a two-leg tie for conference championships is the way. Single elimination forces teams to get after it. Two leg ties are for strong, well-coached teams that will make it interesting. But "TV" money is the priority. Yet, who's gonna want to watch this bullshit but the people already committed to suffering with annoying ass MLS? I'm more likely to watch other teams' games if its single elimination - the ratings for game 2 of Dallas-SKC are gonna be amazing lol.

So what's the 4-2-2-2 depth chart? This is looking prettyyyy prettyyy prettyyy good. Winning the Open Cup should be the bare minimum. If they can hold this team together / upgrade it over the next 2/3 seasons they should win something bigger.
