NYC has lost its mind with the coronavirus overreaction.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Yes, I know Jake. Her family agreed to release her name to the members of our church initially. It has since been picked up by media outlets.

I didnt want to be the one to do that.

The New York Red Bulls previously kicked around Major League Soccer as the MetroStars with limited success. But after transforming under a new banner in 2005, the Red Bulls have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. The club has made leaps of progress since its previous incarnation and now has its focus on bringing the league title to New York. Yea let's compare the Spanish flu from 100 years ago to today, it's the most similar because it fits the fear mode you are all in. Let's not mention that it happened on the heels of WWI where young people were shipped like cattle to the frontlines and while there "lived" in squalor and had little access to clean anything and then went back home where older people didn't die as much. How about Hong Kong Flu of '68 where 100k Americans and 5+mil worldwide. Guess that doesn't fit the hysteria.

I have no problem sitting home for a month but that's crazy talk as some kind of solution to anything, and if it does solve the Corona problem it will raise a dozen more which can't be solved by hiding. Again be careful what you wish for and be safe! Let's not fight but state your case and listen to others, if anyone has a solution I doubt it is as easy as sit home and enjoy life.

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

Did you see any news articles mentioning that she didn't have any other health conditions? The ones I read didn't mention that.

Grant Wahl has an epidemiologist guest in last weeks planet futbol podcast who explains in simple language the nature of the virus and the why we are taking the precautions and sports teams are stopping all activities.

Granted it was from 5 days ago prior to all the closings and stuff but the facts remain the same.

It is a good listen if you have the time for it

Its totally cool, as you said its now public knowledge.

I had for information before the media and didnt want to mention her name out of respect for her family.

Can't imagine things coming back in 30 days. This disease still hasn't plateaued

My specialty isn't infectious disease but I've been in EMS since I was 19 and learned a lot from experience... Virus can go away as fast as they outbreak. I think the self quarantine a way that on paper should stifle the spread of it. But public sanitation and education on how it spreads is key. Stay home hydrate
I just want Metro to win a title sometime in my lifetime.

The rationale behind staying home is that it will mitigate the massive spike in cases that we have coming very soon - anything to lessen the burden on hospitals is worth doing. There's likely at least one or two vulnerable people in everyone's life who you love and don't want to think of in a situation where they need medical care but there's not enough beds.

Concerns about the economy are valid and there are many who are not in financially secure enough positions to weather this and who feel that driving the service economy is more important than the health risks - but being in this position is just a reflection on how poorly our country takes care of it's people.

The bear market was inevitable and just waiting for a catalyst - this is def a clusterfuck of one.

NYC to ban all bar and restaurant dining rooms at 9am Tuesday, which will ravage the local economy and cause massive job losses. Delivery and takeout only.

On top of that, more than 1 million kids from the public school system are home until the end of next month. There is no way they sit inside in front of a computer screen all day doing remote learning with the weather turning nicer.

NYC has lost its mind with the coronavirus overreaction.

No they have not and it isnt a full blown quarantine yet. In addition to the home/remote schooling we are playing soccer with the kids outside, sidewalk drawing, scooters, bikes etc.

My take is slightly different. Easily the thread in MF history showing the sheer and utter stupidity of people. Ive tried to sit back and laugh while staying quiet at some of the ludicrous takes.

This evening I was notified that the 2nd person in the Sate Of NJ died (I will not disclose her name at this time). She was in her 50s and had no underlying health conditions. She was a member of my church and was very involved.

She was a CCD teacher. 3 of her family members were either CCD teachers or students. They are all self quarantined.

My kids go to this church and attend CCD there, even this past week. They both have had sore throats the past couple of days but apparently are feeling okay tonight.

Im very sorry to hear that. Be safe.
