He has a lot to lose if he pleads guilty. He would be subject to the NFL personal conduct policy by pleading guilty. Team owners are also subject to that policy. The owner of the Carolina Panthers was forced to sell his team for violating the NFL personal conduct policy. The legal penalty may be light, and even lighter if he pleads guilty however he has a lot more to lose with the NFL.

Kraft is not being asked to plead guilty. AFAIK, he is being asked to acknowledge that, if the case went to trial, there is enough evidence to convict him.
Apparently, he does not want to admit this. We do not know what evidence there is, or how good it is. Leaks suggest that he was caught on camera being pleasured by a spa employee. If the case goes to trial, this video could be played in court, at which time it could become public record. That might be embarrassing. His lawyers have filed motions to block release of the evidence, and may file a motion to suppress it, as an invasion of privacy.

How a secret video is a public record is beyond me.

Looks like the media apparently will get the video,
even if the case is dismissed!

Does it have anything to do with the secret video being part of a public case?

Apparently yes.
But, I am aware of many situations where certain pieces of evidence are not released publicly. Compromising photos are one.
Of course, Florida laws and court rules probably differ.

If this holds up on appeal, case will be dismissed.
