I agree that the 92 team would whoop some ass, but what competition did that team have? the 2012 team actually has other countries who can ball, the '92 team had absolutely no competition because no other country really gave a shit about basketball.

The biggest thing they had going for them was the shock and awe of the Dream Team rolling in and demolishing everyone. It wilted good strong teams like Lithuania, the Yugos and Russia and completely stunted any performance by middle tier teams like Brazil. They performed much worse than they could have because they rolled over in the face of those guys.

The world, to their credit, sacked the fuck up after that and refused to let the USA scare them into submission. It is much better competition now but I would argue only slightly better talent, though that talent is spread further apart in the world rather than just concentrated in the former Soviet countries and the Yugos. Brazil was a really strong team then but the South American torch has been passed to Argentina now.

The failures of the US teams after that wasn't merely because the world got better. It did, but the USA sucked ball and cock. Sort of an England soccer performance....

What I really like about this year's team is that they seem to really understand what is needed to win and have the right attitude to do it.

GO USA!

So, Dwight Howard is ready to be a Laker and said he is now willing to sign a long term contract after the upcoming season. Teams still gotta agree on a trade and that has proven to be difficult thus far.

Thought he was a free agent? Guess not.

I thought he wasn't on the team anymore.

Read the Lakers are looking at Leandro Barbosa as a back up to Kobe. Hope it happens.

Get drafted by Magic, call yourself Superman, get traded to Lakers during the Olympics. Dejavu.

All I gotta say is Howard better resign after the season. BIG gamble by the Lakers.

Love the move by Lakers GM. Making the league jealous. A big EFFU!! to Stern for blocking the CP3 move.

I am leary of DW's role. He is not option #1 anymore and his back is still suspect. How will he react? I feel that this team is WAY over Mike Brown's head. DW is not guarenteed with Lakers for 2013-2014, so is he test driving us???

The Lakers HAVE to make the finals to secure DW to a long term contract. I feel that there will be all kinds of daily drama and Mike Brown will not return, making way for Phil Jackson to secure another 3-peat.

The Lakers made the Nash and Howard moves not to win in 2 years, but to win this year...
