This is a full game he played in and he looks fantastic

Thanks for the video!  It looks like he will slide right into the #8 role.  I'm really optimistic about this signing.  We clearly need some depth/competition at striker - but I think our attack is going to be decent.

#1375281 Struber didn't start Kaku

Kayden Clark played extremely well, so I would not call him a genius for starting him.

Not sure whether this is referring to Clark's play in general or yesterday's game.  But, other than the goal, he was largely invisible out there.  He didn't really impact the game and deserved to be subbed out sooner.

With that being said, I'm excited to see what he can do in 2021 with a full preseason under Struber.

Depends on the formation.  If we play the 4-2-2-2, I think it's 0-2 or 0-3 loss.  I think we can eek out a 1-1 tie in the 4-2-3-1.

Over the past several seasons, we start off trying to implement the 4-2-2-2 - And every season the results are poor.  When will Armas learn.

It seems like playing the 4-2-3-1 suits our personnel better (even with the significant changes).  Here's hoping we go back to this formation - and Tetteh can conjure up a little BWP in the lone striker role.  Really miss BWP up front - true class and a lethal finisher.  One of my favorite Metro's of all time.

#1357233 What would it take for Red Bull to sell?

Posted by Metrosct on 25 November 2019 - 12:49 PM

Half-empty stadium. No media buzz.

This is as much to do with the stadium location and the saturated NY sports market.  Just look at the Nets (they couldn't get out of the Meadowlands fast enough) and the Devils.  Devils have had some solid teams and still have never drawn well.   It's difficult to get people out of the NYC metro area to this side of the Hudson for the games.

It'd be great to witness more advertising and a greater media presence - but do you really think Red Bull would get a decent return on the investment?  I actually think this is the reason that Red Bull could actually contemplate a sale.  They expected to be NY's team - and, at this point, have to realize they are second to NYCFC.

Let's not forget the crap product that the Metrostars put on the field playing in the non-descript Giants Stadium.

At least Red Bull has given us a fantastic stadium, a consistently competitve team and some promising young players.  Sure I'd like them to spend some more $'s - but all-in-all I enjoy watching the team play.  And I really like the game day experience.

We could do far worse.

Please no Lade.  He is such a defensive liability.  The guy plays hard but constantly gets beat for pace.  I'd much rather see Duncan out there - with either Kemar or Murillo.

Lade is ok in that 5 man backline when he has some cover.

And hopefully he realizes that with a solid start to the season, it will likely be Europe that comes calling.  And with transfer fees more to RB's liking.  He's got to be aware of all the recent transfer activity going on.  Play well and you'll get rewarded.

#1298134 The never-ending Veron discussion

Veron should be playing over Grella & Muyl, but if the Norseman pairs better with BWP, I don't think you shoehorn Veron in somewhere else, you bring him in off the bench until you send him back home over the summer.

Amazing thing about Grella, but he always seems to produce when he is on the field.  Personally, I play him over Veron.  At the very least, he should be getting some starts.  The guy just has a knack on the attacking end - and definitely deserves to be called Grelladinho.  If only he had Veron's speed....

Would like to see a different view of the goal to if Lawrence. Being down kept Agudelo onside. If so I think they should call it. If not then its unsporting but can't say I wouldn't do the same as NER.

That was my thinking as well.  It looked like Lawrence kept him onside.  In fact, Fagundez was even quoted as saying he hesitated moving forward because he thought the play was offside.

I thought the guy was good - definitely better/more knowledgeable than Cangelosi.

Very sad. Most NYRB skilled player to leave/retire. His touch & vision will be hard to replicate with this current squad.

Sounds like Peggy wasn't getting the encouragement from management to continue. Maybe a bit more enthusiasm from Marsh & Co could of persuaded him to contribute for another year. As others have said, he was part of "old management". I am surprised he lasted this long.

Thanks Peggy. One of the most skilled and chillest metro/redbulls we've had.

I agree.  I was hoping they would slide Peggy into Sacha's spot and drop Sacha back next to Dax (Felipe was hesitant going forward and isn't great defensively).

I think a midfield of Grella   Peggy  Sam - with Sach and Dax behind would be very solid.  And we know that Peggy can find BWP - not convinced Sacha/Felipe will be as effective.
