Just wondering where everyone thinks Luis Robles stacks up with the Metro greats right now as well as where we think he's headed. It feels like yesterday that Hans Backe halfhazardly threw him into the lineup basically as an unknown, but he's probably going to surpass Timmy for 2nd all-time among GK appearances this season and should surpass Meola's shutout record in 2016. He's put up very good numbers in his 3.5 years with the team, obviously was a huge part of the Supporters' Shield victory, and gets all the accolades for the intangibles/off-the-field stuff/supporters interaction. And he's only 30 years old. He could still have 5-8 years left in him for this team. Would he be in the Metro Hall of Fame if he retired today? How far away is his stacking up with Petke/Henry/Angel in terms of ultimate legend status?

He's always been a professional, a leader, and he's really friggin good.  HOF worthy for sure and quickly approaching Petke/Henry/JPA territory for me.

I'd think if he has a good season this year, he's in. Figure Meola (125 regular season games played with us), Howard (85 games) would be the only two keeping him out of the Best XI. Robles has been impressive and a solid part of this team. A couple of gaffes here and there, but has saved us many more times. Absolutely above Ammann, Bouna, Conway, Walker, Cepero, Wells, Wattereus, Meara, Gaudette, Sutton, Rost, Grafer, Thornton, Horwath, Konopka, Dufty, and Payne (I think I got them all).

Completely snubbed Eddie Gaven. Classless on your part.

Stats don't lie.  Until he scores more goals than Cepero, he's nobody.

For me our top 2 are Howard and Meola.

I always thought Walker was always underrated and he deserves a lot more credit. I think Robles is ahead of him now because of longevity. Walker only had a year and a half and now Robles is heading into his third full season.

But definitely now these four guys were the best we've had.

J-Dub was the man; it's one of the great Metro tragedies that his back gave out on him so soon. Agreed that Robles is #3 at this point on the Metro Mt. Rushmore of GKs.

ESPN FC retweeted New York Red Bulls

With his 26th clean sheet for the Red Bulls, Luis Robles breaks Tony Meola's club record for shutouts.

I think this would mean a lot to Luis, as he really looked up to Tony Meola.

he's exactly what you want when building/maintaining an MLS team.   Leader, talented, rarely does he have Bouna moments where he totally misjudges shit, seems like a genuine guy off the field, young enough to be with us for several more years to totally cement his legacy....you can go on and on with great things to say about him.
