You're not in Chi...so it wouldn't apply to you, but my favorite response to this is: If Detroit rocks, then why are so many of your guys here?

Detroit fans don't care one bit about the Blackhawks. There really has been no rivalry between Detroit and the Hawks since the mid 90s at the latest. The freakin Colorado Avalanche are a more recent rival to Detroit than the Hawks. A current rivalry MAY be starting up again, but this will take another year at least. If anything, the Hawks/Wings rivalry could be a hockey equivalent of the pre-2004 Yankees/Red Sox rivalry...and that may be a bit of an insult to the pre-2004 R. Sox or a bit too flattering to our current West Side Hockey Club, depending on what way you want to look at it.
Detroit sucked when Konstantinov was cross checking Jocelyn Lemieux's teeth out of his mouth and when Slava Kozlov was ripping series OT winners past Eddie Belfour. Detroit sucked when they had a guy called Dino Ciccarelli. These days, it is passing nostalgia at best.

They've won 4 Stanley Cups in the time it has taken the Hawks to string together two playoff series' victories. They've won, been dethroned, reloaded, and won again with a combination of veterans, free agent signings, and the development of younger players. They still have a few guys who played for the 97 and 98 championship teams and I really cannot think of too many other franchises who've been able to excel for this long while keeping the right veterans and making all the right other moves, the sort of path the Hawks followed in an exact inverse manner until only a few years ago.

In all that time though their city has gotten worse while ours has improved.
They still suck.

Aw, I remember those days, they were pretty great. (Although I never liked Dino.)

If it makes you guys feel any better....the Tribune ran a story on Bob Probert today and he is rooting for the Hawks in the series.
It made me feel a little better.
That's awesome.
