#1351952 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

Long kept him on . I thought the same as u until I watched the replay.

Oh yes, I saw that too.

I dont think Buck was trying to play an offside trap though.

Bou used his experience and strength to get inside and muscle Buck up the field.

A full back cant, under that circumstance, let the forward get inside os him, period.  Hes taught to keep
The forward on the outside and stay goal side.

Bucks 2nd goal allowed in the last 2 weeks.

Absolutely.  I always try and be honest.

I do not think hes a good coach.

With that being said, I have to give him credit where credit is due.

This guy better knock our socks off. ATL is enroute to three cups in less than a year. We deserve better.

You dont deserve better.  Youve had it too good for too long......

Our signings have come down to Ralf playing his phone a friend card.

Personally, I think Jourgenson was a Ralf signing too.  Basically told the feeder club to sign this kid and stash him for experience.  If he pans out, well bring him up to the big time in Germany.

Theres no way you can convince me that Hamlet was tracking this guy and made a play for him.

Really? You are comparing a fan to a profeaaional football club here. Sure, the Southampton manager doesn't wake up every day wondering what NYRB is doing, but I'm sure that a scout or a player development guy in the organization has an inkling that NYRB play a similar high pressing style to Bundesliga sensation RB Leipzig at the very least.

Yes, really.  Most folks here are Red Bulls and MLS fans.  Id say most folks here couldnt tell you Colorado or Montreals style of play......and they watch out League every week.

MLS is a pimple on the camels ass to Southampton.  The loan deal was a favor for a friend and former colleague.  Which is great.  Its important to have connections and Ralf had one that helped us.

Lets just enjoy the player and hope hes good.

Outside of ManCity lending players to MLS, I know we dont see EPL-to-MLS loans happen where the player is a legit prospect. But, Southampton is different. Theyre a club that actually develops players. Im just saying, its a possibility that they look at RBNY specifically (style of play, Adams, Long) and feel Sims can develop here better than the Championship. Its not out of the realm of possibility, especially given the rumor that there are talks of a formal relationship between the clubs.  I wouldnt think hes a high level prospect, but theres a chance Southampton sees some value in him.

I hear what youre saying....its just not reality.  If you think they have any idea of the NYRB style of play, youre fooling yourself.  Do you know Lutons style of play in the Championship?  Of course not.  Because you dont care about that team or league.  They dont care about MLS or NYRB.

Also, the Saints are the best developmental program in England.  They definitely dont need MLS help developing their players.

When a guy is Sims age and still havent broken through, theyre no longer a prospect in their eyes.  Guys like James Ward-Prowse are prospects who broke through at the right age (from their perspective).  Luke Shaw, Callum Chambers, etc.

That doesnt mean Sims wont be a really good MLS player because I hope he will be.

Adams is doing great in the Bundesliga.  Long has EPL interest.  RBNY players are capable of stepping up.  And, if Southampton wants to develop a player that can play in a press system why wouldn't RBNY be a better fit than a Championship side that plays a totally different style?  He should definitely play here and he'll develop in a system that can translate into what Southampton do.
Part of Adams immediate success at RBL was that he didn't really have to adjust to their style of play.  Southampton COULD be thinking a similar thing.  Also, this week on Seeing Red they mentioned talk of a possible formal working relationship between RBNY and Southampton.

Very good questions.  Ive literally watched more Premiership games in tbt past 18-years than anyone in this country.   Ill give you the reality, regardless of its fair or not.

England still sees MLS as a far inferior league.  They see 2nd and 3rd division players like BWP, setting records here.

Their serious prospects get loaned to lower level Premiership clubs or Championship clubs, right down the road where they can keep a close eye on them.  When Premiership clubs ship players to MLS. The club is saying, its over for them at the parent club.

That doesnt mean the player cant be a good MLS player.  There are many examples of it working out well for MLS teams.  A good recent example of this is Brad Smith, left back from the Seattle Sounders.  Hes been a good player for them after being loaned from Bournemouth.  The Cherries arent looking for him to gain experience and come back to commodore a staring spot.  Their shedding calories and trimming the fat.

Im not saying its right or wrong, its just the current reality.

So we have one senior open slot, one reserve open slot, and... a closed window?

Ladies and Gentlemen.....youre 2019 NY Red Bulls!

When I heard we were getting a prem winger/fullback I thought it would be someone who had never seen a single minute for the first team. This is a good signing/loan if we complete it. I thought we were going empty handed in this window but to know youre bringing in a guy whos fantastic at taking on defenders 1v1 one hundred percent a better passer than muyl and Derrick and still has a hell of a right foot despite some finishing problems Ill take it. People look at goals and assists to define a player, this guy is 22 and while hes played in like 30+ games in his career hes still managed to bring in decent shifts and still developing. People are mad Jorgensen isnt a first teamer but give it time that guy is scoring a heck ton of goals in usl, next year and perhaps the rest of this year with Barlow, white, and Jorgensen scoring goals and sims and kaku supplying them we look like a promising outfit. I know we need to spend more and were always a piece away and its frustrating, heck Ive written many frustrated posts but I really think sims is a promising signing. One more thing to the doubters on his goal record, before Josef Martinez or most of the guys in Argentina hadnt had a lot of goals or any and then they start bursting them in at a staggering rate, Im just saying keep an open mind. This guy is 22 has 20 prem apps, this isnt a bad signing at all its actually a really good one better than I thought wed get.

Insights into the mind of Denis Hamlett....

#1350942 DC sucks donkey balls

DC did ok for themselves today. They keep Rooney until the end of the season. It gives them some time to look for a replacement which you damn know theyll sign. Boateng is a useful bench option.

Felipe and Kamara would start for our team right now

.....and theyre capitalizing on Rooney by having talks with Ozil to potentially join in January.

We capitalize on Henry by signing guys from the German 4th division.

This guy is a definite starter.  A level above The rest of the right mids.

I know this because Armas and Hamlet said they werent looking for depth and only a staring 11 player.

And I really trust those guys.

We have one senior roster spot available with the loan of Epps. We also have one international spot.
If Valot is put on season ending injury list, that opens another senior spot. Plus, we can loan a guy like Mines or Koffi to the USL team for the remainder of the season to have an extra spot.

Hamlett has made some recent changes to the roster spots composition.

Senior spots:
1. Bezecourt
2. Casseres Jr.
3. Davis
4. Duncan
5. Ivan
6. Jorgensen
7. Kaku
8. Lade
9. Taxi
10. Long
11. Meara
12. Murillo
13. Parker
14. Robles
15. Royer
16. Rza
17. Tarek
18. Valot
19. BWP
20. OPEN (Epps Loan)

Supplemental spots (21-24):
21. Etienne Jr.
22. Koffi
23. Louro
24. Muyl

Reserve spots (25-30):
25. Barlow
26. Buckmaster
27. White
28. Nealis
29. Mines
30. Fernandez

Hamlet very much appreciated your summary......he had no idea.

He just cut and pasted your post into his Power Point for Ralf.

Looks like Felipe to dc. Ugh.

Hamlett was offered Felipe before DC.

After a thorough analysis, he concluded that Felipe didnt fit the Red Bulls system.
