#1339191 CCJ 2019

Posted by Brian.MLS on 17 January 2019 - 01:32 PM

In watching CCJ in USL last year, he showed a lot of promise. My concern is that he is timid/shy when he doesn't have the ball. Doesn't get into good spaces. When he has the ball, good things usually happen.

The good news is that Adams spent a year and a half looking like eerily similar in the USL before he became an absolute beast.

The bad news is CCJ can't use being a 16yr old with braces as an excuse.

#1339122 2019 International Call-ups

The number of coaches with a Metro background is amazing.

MLS: Petke, Vermes, Gio
Assts: Fraser, Hendrickson, Razov, K. Arena
USYNTs: Ramos, van den Bergh (U19 HC), Meola, Sorber (now at LAFC), and Omid Namazi.
Now Terry Boss as GK coach with the senior team.

US Soccer Pro License is awarded to about 10 people each year. Last year, Steve Trittschuh (very losely played/trained with Metro), Ezra Hendrickson, Kenny Arena and Robin Fraser.
This year, you have Mike Petke, Gio Savarese, DVDB, and Ante Razov as candidates.

USL: Woly, Ibra, Braeden Cloutier, Tim Mulqueen, Jamison Olave, Gerson Echeverry, and John Harkes.

You have Henry at Monaco and Jesse at Leipzig.

Chris Leitch was with SJ, Richie Williams was involved with the US, DC, RB teams, Donadoni coached a bit as did Lothar, Brian Bliss did great things.

The list goes on and on.

#1339039 2019 "Super"Draft

Posted by Brian.MLS on 13 January 2019 - 06:39 PM

Not overly upset about this. Was kind of lost with the front four in his return from injury. With Omir signing soon, the emergence of Jared Stroud and Ben Mines on the other side along with Epps, plus Barlow and Abang up top, not much room here. Hope he does well with Chicago.

Janos Loebe was with our U23s this past year.

His brother, Jannik, played with out U23s in 2016.

#1338922 Abang's loan terminated

Even if its legalized in Jersey, it can still be tested for within MLS, much like the GNC supplements were with Jon Conway and Jeff Parke.

The guy is an idiot for risking it, but since he never seems to have consequences,  then hey why not?

#1338883 2019 "Super"Draft

Philly just traded ALL their draft picks to FCC for $150k (up to $200k if players perform) in GAM...

Time to ditch this draft. At least the "Super" part.

Supposedly Robles is getting a contract extension tomorrow so we will see actually how much it is for.  Sam Stejskal implied that it may be a DP contract.

Good for Robles I guess but I thought he signed an extension with us recently, and I'm not the biggest fan of goalie DPs.

Supposedly a fake Sam account. Red Bull picture was just referencing upcoming season.

I think the pair cost about as much as the bar tab at a single RBA game.

I paid $84 total for my son and I to have season tickets. I will have paid more in the $7 parking than on the tickets by the end of the season.

#1338799 2019 Schedule

An extra team in the East. Looks like we now play everyone twice.

Correct. Much better IMO. Much more balanced and comparable at the end of the year.

2x vs. Conference, 1x outside of Conference

6 home games on the same date as the USL team. Hoping for a few double headers or at least games that don't overlap.

When asked about Parker, Berhalter said that he hadn't spoken to him yet but plans to. Probably not a good sign that he wasn't even contacted prior to Camp Cupcake, and a little unfair IMO seeing the other names on the roster.

[Parker's] a guy that was in strong consideration, he had a great MLS season," Berhalter said. "The issue with center back, were deep across the pool. In this particular case we decided to go with younger athletes. Like all players, Tim has an opportunity through his play to get an opportunity."

Someone ask Elon Musk to retrieve the ball from orbit when he ventures into space.

Meanwhile in Columbus:

"You're last interview included 300 pages. This has 299. Can you tell me what has changed?"

"Previosly page 1 was to fire the head coach and replace him with someone who would stab me in the back a couple years later."

#1338122 Marcus Epps taken in Waiver Draft

Posted by Brian.MLS on 12 December 2018 - 04:18 PM

Another no-name guy to fight for minutes with Muyl and Valot and Ettiene and Mines?

Still better than the results from our draft picks in most cases. We lost our 40 something pick for a guy who showed some promise and a former 25th pick.

Can play either wing and has pace. This move makes me wonder if Etienne Jr. is sticking around. Similar playing styles.

2018: 8 Starts, 13 GP 609 minutes - 1G,2A
2017: 7 Starts, 19 GP 709 minutes - 2G,1A

I am fine with this, fits our system well.
