Maradona's passed away.

Had brain surgery a week or so ago, and the reports about him sounded pretty grim.

Didn't like him for the Hand of God goal, but goals like this (https://www.youtube....h?v=1wVho3I0NtU) are what the game is about.

60 years old is way too young.

Not Metro related (unless you recall rumors from 1996...)

Was the greatest star of a generation. Perhaps the greatest ever.

Not so good in 1994.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Not so good in 1994.

Too much drugs and alcohol in these 8 years. Still managed to have a good 1990.

Random thought: If you think about it in many ways he is the South American version of George Best.

Except the English like George Best.  I'm not sure how they feel about Maradona.

Not so good in 1994.

I recall watching Maradona's rather inauspicious World Cup debut against Belgium in the opening game of the 1982 tournament. A 21 year old wunderkind playing on what was soon to be his home ground at Camp Nou, getting "lost in a Belgian forest" as one commentator so kindly put it. His tournament ended shortly before Argentina's did when he was red carded with about 15 minutes remaining in a second round loss to Brazil. His performance 4 years later in Mexico City pretty much rendered '82 to footnote status.
