#1366170 Can we bring some real talent here?

Posted by MetroFanatic on Yesterday, 01:14 PM

Atlanta signs a Mexican international winger on a FREE transfer.

We lose our DP winger.

Rinse, repeat.

The problem is not how good Sims is or isn't. The problem is that every other team is improving, while we're standing pat (or regressing).

#1366062 Jesse Marsch to RB Salzburg Official

Jesse wins the double... obviously, the LASK deduction helped but they have a 13 point lead on them now (would have been 9 without deduction).

#1366061 Are we about to take eMLS Cup...

Man we all swore wed be in line for some 9am action.

National TV loves us in prime time.  You'd think we were the Galaxy or something.

I think all games are on national TV?

#1365839 Sam Cosgrove (and Lawrence Shankland)

Aberdeen players are probably not getting paid, maybe they need to dial up Cosgrove again:

More than enough time for Hamlett to check his email!

#1365722 We still have no strikers

Posted by MetroFanatic on 16 June 2020 - 06:11 PM

Also, Im hoping the roster construction is Fernie and Thelwells job at this point

And what is Hamlett's job?

LAFC has Vela

LA has Chicharito

Atlanta has Martinez (injured, but whatever, they have the other Martinez and Barco)

KC has Pulido

Smurfs have Heber

Toronto has Jozy

etc etc etc

We have White (no offense to White)

This pandemic really made us forget what an incompetent roster Hamlett built.

I wonder how the playoffs matchups will be set. In the 32-team World Cup, the Round of 16 matchups for the first 2 from each group are predefined (for example, B2 v E2), with the only flexibility around 3-seeds depending which teams advance.

I bet MLS is trying to figure this out to make sure Seattle and Atlanta have the easiest road possible.

How to fix the MIB Tournament fairness flaw

https://www.yahoo.co...-132017049.html

Rather than give the 16 knockout berths to six group winners, six runner-ups and four third-place teams, MLS could tweak that allocation to:

  • Six group winners

  • Six runner-ups

  • The third-place team from Group A

  • The three highest point-earners out of A) the other five third-place finishers, and B) the fourth-place team from Group A

In other words: the top 50 percent of each group should qualify automatically. And then of the next-best teams in each group, the top three should qualify as well.

The adjusted format would give an average Group A team, roughly, a 59 percent chance of advancing and a non-Group A team, roughly, a 62 percent chance. It would close the probability gap between Group A and the rest from around 18 percentage points down to 3.

This was my suggestion from earlier in the thread....

But since we got the 4-team group and the 6-team group has TWO expansion teams, let the blue fuckers sweat a little.

IDK, I could see Columbus-Cinncy at 10:30 when we play Atlanta. You figure MLS would want both those games in primetime. But who knows?

Unless its the last game of group play, they can be on different days... That's how World Cup does it.

I'm just hoping for no 9 AM games.

Also, prediction is 5 points. Hopefully that's enough.

I bet our game vs Atlanta is primetime, but fully expect one of the other two to be 9 AM (if not both). 10:30s will be obviously reserved for Western teams, so half of East's games can't help but be at 9 AM.

I'm happy we got a 4-team group and we got 1 doormat in Cincinnati.

If we don't advance out of this group, we suck.
