For me, last night's dreary 0-0 (4-2) result was the worst soccer match I've ever seen played by the Galaxy.
By this, I don't mean the worst I've ever seen the Galaxy play - I remember those Metro beat downs where we made Eddie Gavin look like Maradona, the Collapse in San Jose, or last year when the quit against United. In those matches, the opponents played well. I mean the worst in terms of the quality of both teams.

Both teams missed open chances. Neither team could string together three passes. Heck, neither team could keep the ball on the field during the first twenty minutes. It was a game so poor that Stefani Miglioranzi was on the pitch the entire time and he wasn't the worst player on the field. It was that bad.

So if not this match, what?

If not this match, when?

If not this match, why?

It really must be bad then.

Haven't seen the guy play before, judging from the broadcast games, he's already on a good way to "my players to get rid off list"

still Kudos to the 6something thousand that went, even if it was appearently only to suffer further with a crap game.

That bonus ticket was more like a punishment ticket.

Stefani makes me wish we had Pete back. He makes me miss Memo. At least Memo was a zero impact whereas Stefani is a negative. This guy is going to start against Chivas this weekend. Fuck.

edit: I've thought hard for the last 20 minutes. I remember a lot of matches and I can't think of one that was worse. I did miss that memorable Galaxy-China friendly a few years ago.

edit 2: could this match possibly have been good if one was drunk?

...ooooh ooooooooh we are the riot squad...

At some points I thought to myself that i'd rather be at home doing my Japanese homework than watching the AYSO game being played.

Brutal.

The G's still suck @ penalties.

Tony Sanneh will not be losing his spot to Gregg Berhalter anytime soon.

Why did Valentin and Dunivant not see any playing time?

Bruce doesn't care about the USOC.

Stefani Miglioranzi? A less expensive and less charismatic version of Pete V...

The One Positive Thing to note: Rookies "Don't mess with the" Yohance Marshall and AJ DeLaGarza played well.

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...

the collapse in SJ.

why? i was in complete disbelief as the series was unraveling.

last night sucked, but i think bruce is secretly happy to be out of the competition. he rested many of the players. it's hard for me to care for the game when the team isn't trying their hardest.

While sitting in 138 last night - yes - I was sitting down, I was contemplating this very same question.

The only other game I've been to that was close to being this bad was a USL Div II game between the Charlotte Eagles, and some other team that sucked even worse than they did. In similar fashion, it was tied at the end of regulation, and then at the end of OT but at least it was tied with some goals being scored at the beginning of the game.

I can't pretend like I've been watching football my whole life (coming up on 4 years now), but in my short time that was the worst display of anything I've ever seen. Amateur porn has better direction than our piss poor team. As much as I'd like to blame Alan Gordon (and i do a great deal), the performance of the entire team was shit.

Eh, take it for what it was: a reserve match. If we win the us open and are dead last in our league, Bruce's job will be on the table and everyone will be pissed. Bruce sees the bigger picture..... This is a reserve match oppurtunity ahead of a rival clash that does matter. Our bench warmers got some match time and the oppurtunity to prove themselves.

The real bummer is no one on our b squad showed any potential. Waste of cash and roster space.

True. This was a glorified reserve match.

But before I give Bruce credit for seeing the "bigger picture" I'm wondering what good it did to have Omar Gonzalez play 90 mins at RB? I'm also perplexed why Julian Valentin and Todd Dunivant saw no playing time. Starting Sean Franklin at RM when he will clearly being back at RB on Saturday?

Losing anything is not acceptable. Bruce preached a whole lot of "changing the team's mentality" when he took over and to shrug this loss off as umimportant is contrary to those very statements.

If you're not creepin', you're not trying...

The awesome thing about the China game was going back on the boards and pretending it was the best game ever, as a punishment to those who didn't suffer through it along with us.

Apparently the Rapids game wasn't even plausibly, theoretically good. It sounded like hip replacement surgery on MatchTracker, but it also sounded like LARS and ACB asserted themselves. That's the ONE good thing about garbage friendlies - LARS gets to kick back a little.

The next time we have to replace a coach and ten or twelve players at once - like, May or so - let's replace them with competent people. I know Catamount and others are sick of the rebooting, but in real life, very very very few computer professionals replace an old, broken computer with an older, more broken computer with Norton Anti-Virus replaced with GOB's "peenus" program from "Arrested Development."

bullshit aside, since 2003 the Gs had at most 13 wins in one season. for me it is not about a match but a string of failures. i guess i would have to say worst.matches.ever have been since 2003.

i really think the HDC was built on an old Indian burial ground. this curse has been going on since 2003. we simply have been complete shit since 2003.

the 2005 championship should not be a star on the crest, just 2 letters: LD.
