A little off topic, but has Lauro developed all that much these last few years? He seems good at the USL level but never anything more than just good.

First teamers on the playoff roster:
Meara, Louro, Duncan, Nealis, Buckmaster, Koffi, Mines, CCJ, Bezecourt, Jorgensen, Barlow.

So, Omir Fernandez removed (same with Amro Tarek, but he only played one game with them and is injured anyway).

Sounds like they want to shore up D and bring on already successful players.
Wonder why no Omir or are they pretty good at his position and want to give this players time?

Keep CCJ and Duncan off the field. The last thing the 1st team needs is two of the good building blocks for 2020 aggravating their injuries.

Ive watched all the games but a little behind in my comments.

I feel mines / beze have massively disappointed in these games really fighting an uphil battle now to show they can do anything.

I feel we really miss Epps I think Im biased but I liked what he was doing.

In terms of playoffs and what 18 we go with

Barlow
Stroud - Beze - Mines
Koffi - Lema
Tolkien - Nealis - Scarlett - Buckmaster
Louro

I agree that we cant play meara that would be shitty to do when Louro is the captain. Same with ccj and Duncan no point playing them.

Nealis and buckmaster i would start, mostly cause I dont think either are above and buckmaster needs to show me hes even a starter at usl level.

Mines needs to show something and I think Beze is gone after this so he deserves to play.

Id start Barlow over Matty ice mostly bc hes awful but they wont and hell miss 2/3 chances Barlow would score and contribute nothing in the build up cause he cant hold the ball up or pass.

Ill do a big end of season player by player thing but I mostly agree.

Tolkien would be my priority for a deal, other than that Id rather cut buckmaster and sign rito but Armas is stubborn so I dont think he will.

Oddly enough I didnt think stroud was good enough for a mls contract but now I think he is and hope the first team signs him.

I was always impressed with Zajec but I dont think hes first team ready yet.

Anyone know what's up with Omir? He seemed to really drop off in the second half of the year.

Heavily mismanaged unless there is some injury the team
is hiding as they do often do. Idk how you go from getting a start in CCL vs. Santos Laguna is Mexico and scoring a goal to getting little to no minutes with the 1st team or the 2s.

Keeping him on the bench or out of the 18 entirely and barely giving him any minutes at the USL level is a wasted season. These kids need minutes for development.

This sounds like what I call the "field of dreams" approach to youth development. We assume that if you just keep throwing minutes at a player, regardless of the quality of their play, they'll hit an elite level eventually.

In his 19 appearances, Omir had a few great games, a few poor games, and lot of pretty mediocre games. I think he was given a fair enough shot to prove he's the guy for the spot and just couldn't capitalize on it. I'm hopeful he'll step it up in 2020, but this season's ~600 minutes sounds about right to me.

Sounds like pretty much the same conversation we've all been having about Etienne for his career too.

I agree with this. He reminds me of Etienne. Moments of brilliance and then you forget hes on the field.

You have to be absolutely stellar in practice to even earn a start. Then when you do earn a start you have to hold onto that position with a death grip. Omir earned his start, did really well and after that his play was very...meh.

Id sooner send players like that back to USL (like we did w Duncan who seems to have turned it around) rather than just hand them MLS minutes all willy nilly.

Now you can argue that some players have gotten more rope than these guys but it doesnt change the fact that they didnt put a stamp on their positions.

Lets not forget that college guys arent used to a January to October season.

I think Omir had a good year but could have used more RB2 mins, even this weekend Id rather have him then whoever else ends up at RM.

Etienne has been injured in Cincy.
Two starts, 5 appearances since the loan.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

Like this but I'd give Louro and Scarlett over Meara and Kilwien.

Also, that right wing situation has been a disaster since we loaned Marcus Epps for absolutely no reason whatsoever, given we still had roster flexibility and obviously dont spend money.
I'd move Lema into that role as he is needed on the field (we gave up 7 in his lone missed game and 3 more in the only game he didn't start in) and Elney has no defensive skillset (and very little in the attack).
