#1368310 Can we bring some real talent here?

Posted by jp917 on 25 July 2020 - 09:23 PM

Personally, i would only make 3 big changes.

I think the team should sell Royer, Long and Rza.

Kaku should play Royer's position. The team should just give him the ball in the attack and allow him to roam and find his game.

The team should sign a two midfielder to help control the tempo of the game. This should be a DP signing.

The last signing should be an Olave type of CB. DP if needed.

Wait, there's different ways to build a team besides finding "the right fit"?

if he could be Royer / Philly Union player Kacper Przybylko who was B2/B3 that would be good.

Still want more

Never forget Andreas Ivan had B3 experience

#1367352 The Fire Chris Armas Thread

When we get a new head coach I'm convinced that this organization will just demote Armas to assistant coach again, Hamlett-Thelwell style

#1362125 Hamlett is in so far over his head

Ironically enough the only MLS trade Hamlett did get right was flipping Felipe for Parker.

I just assumed Marsch was running things at that time

The Denis Hamlett Offseason Clock is now live on the front of MF, counting up from the end of the playoff game.

How high will it get?

A week before new signings come, the social media manager will tweet 📰🔜. Stroud and Lema will be announced, Sims will come back and Hamlett will say that the team is waiting for summer for an impact signing. The team will sign a couple of guys like Epps after training camp.  And well all complain some more about the sad state of the team.

FYP

it was supposed to say "system" in quotes which meant no one again

#1357237 What would it take for Red Bull to sell?

Posted by jp917 on 25 November 2019 - 01:06 PM

This.

There have been multiple years where the addition of a single player in an area of need would have made the difference.

In those years they sat on their hands and said we like the team we have.

But they have to wait for the right player to fit the system of not pressing anymore

I think people are pissed about the lack of moves. It seems like ever since 2018 off-season, the team has made no significant moves. The only moves the team seems to value is signing RBII guys, Buckmaster didn't work out last year but they stuck behind that move like he was the answer to our problems.

#1339924 Random Player Name Thread 2019

Posted by jp917 on 31 January 2019 - 07:39 AM

I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I've mentioned guys like Andrés Ibargüen, Marlos Moreno, Luis Diaz and Jorge Carrascal and anyone with YouTube and internet access could plainly see these guys are prospects... And what happens... They get signed by teams.... Andrés Ibargüen scored 5 goals in less than a quarter of a season in Argentina then goes to America in Liga MX and helps down TFC in CCL and scores a handful of goals and assists... Luis Diaz helps get Junior to Copa Sudaméricana Finals where his teammates choke in penalties after extra time but then helps Junior win the local league... Jorge Carrascal and Marlos were two guys underrated but yet teams in Argentina and Mexico snatched them up...

My point is if a football fanatic like myself notices this lugs why can't scouts for Metro that are getting paid for finding talent and nothing else find these guys?!?!?!!?!??!

I'm telling you... Nani would be a plus for anyone... Yimmi Chara is in form in a more competitive league and has always played at higher level leagues than MLS and done extremely well so much so that he's helped push his side to be competitive for league titles and winning some in some occasions...

Orlando Berrío is a physical freak of nature and used sparingly.. Meaning not for USOC and not in weekday matches before or after weeknd matches and sometimes being sub out before 90 or used on occasion between starts as a super sub,Orlando Berrío is league MVP material in any league in the western hemisphere...

Nathan Nandez is available for the right price and he would also easily be an upgrade for Metro and that's considering that he plays the same role, position and style as Tyler Adams...

If NYRB open the check book and pay down their current DPs to TAM level and get Nani, Chara, Berrío and Nandez... NYRB can easily win a treble this year and next and then sell them to Europe

Maybe the problem is the players themselves. While we can all sit here and scout like this, I'm sure a team with professional scouting networks can do the same. The players may not want to come to play in MLS. Club America just bought Benedetti for a lower transfer than what Minnesota United had previously offered for him. It seems to me like some players avoid MLS when they could be playing in Argentina and Mexico. Look at how Kaku's agent started acting when America became a possibility.

#1339150 CM is our biggest issue

Posted by jp917 on 16 January 2019 - 03:40 PM

FWIW Dyer asked Armas specifically about the CM position and Armas confirmed that was the area where they were looking at closing a deal shortly, most likely from outside of MLS. Probably the same move Hamlett alluded to the other day.

I'm surprised how quickly Rzatskowski faded into the sunset. Was there no attempt whatsoever to bring him back?

I think it was his salary that stopped him from coming back. He was earning almost $1 million

#1338679 Attendance again

Posted by jp917 on 03 January 2019 - 09:55 AM

Its not about having a big name. The problem is the perception of MLS. Atlanta fans and other expansion markets didnt have MLS during the early years. Years when it seemed like every year might be the last one, and when three owners owned every team. MLS is already tarnished here in New York, everyone sees it as inferior.

Time is the only thing that will help but well never be Atlanta. Im fine with how the team is doing except for the lack of championships.

#1336860 No Traveling Press for RBNY

Posted by jp917 on 26 November 2018 - 12:02 PM

I don't understand why people seem to think the press, which is struggling, would be sending a dedicated reporter to cover a game for the team with the smallest fanbase in the New York metropolitan area.

#1300701 A big name to make a difference in attendance

Posted by jp917 on 02 May 2017 - 04:24 PM

The euro snobbery is being underestimated. How many times do you have to sit there while a friend or someone sitting near by criticizes the quality of play while talking highly of one of the top five leagues. The soccer fans are here, they're just not coming to games. And if they do, they come once, criticize the game the entire time and never come back

#1297625 Marsch's inability to win playoff series

Posted by jp917 on 08 March 2017 - 10:07 AM

God he's so sour... Petke helped Dax fix his career, and Marsch helped him elevate his career. He gets traded and hates the world.  I know Chicago isn't New York, so maybe that's why he's mad.  Perhaps also the wife is pissed but she had to know what she was getting into. It's a freaking trade.  I thought MLS allows No Movement clauses so I don't know why he wouldn't push for that to be put into his contract.

He doesn't sound sour, he's right. It's not like he's calling the coaches inferior
