So do we advance if we're in the top 3 in our group? Or do we have to make the top 2? 'Cause the way we're playing, I think that would be pretty unreasonable.Group 5
LA Galaxy (USA)
Metapan (SLV)
Caribbean 3

The real money in CONCACAF is in Mexican TV, and the potential money is American and Canadian TV. So if this competition is really going to matter, there should be more Mexican and American teams.
El Jefecito tells me that the Mexican League, as part of their reorganization, will be pulling out of the Libertadores, in part to focus more on the Champions League. And they're dropping the Apertura/Clausura structure and maybe playoffs, so tournaments like this become even more important.
So, if they're going to have 24 teams advance to the group stage, the top third of the Mexican, American, and Canadian teams should take part. So we'd have 7-Mex, 5/6-US and 1 Canada. Right now it's 4-4-1.
The Caribbean already plays a tournament to determine its spots. CA should do the same - give 8 to CA and 2 to the Caribbean. The play-in tournaments will give more of the scrub clubs a chance to play without wasting the time of the Americans and Mexicans.

Seriously? I liked the whole two seasons a year thing. Well, it's not like I followed closely enough to expect them to ask me.El Jefecito tells me that the Mexican League, as part of their reorganization, ...And they're dropping the Apertura/Clausura structure and maybe playoffs, so tournaments like this become even more important.
Woulda been nice, though...

2 season structure stays. With playoffs. + 2 Domestic Cup competitions (1 per semester) with a group stage!?!?
But it seems LMX will pull from Libertadores and make it a priority for teams to be hyper competitive in the continental league to:
1. Win CONCACAF every year, and
2. Win a Club World Cup.

Looks like we have home games against Isidro Metapan on Aug. 23 and Puerto Rico on the 29th.When does the Gs start group play?
I sure hope Bruce has the team looking for some payback against Puerto Rico. When was it we shat the bed against them?

Hate to burst your bubble, but Aguila is weak. They let some of their best players walk away during the offseason.Seeing Toronto beat the unholy snot out of Aguila makes me feel very slightly less bad about our showing against them in March.
The best Salvadoran team is... Isidro Metapan
The team with the most upsets in the CCL is... Puerto Rico Islanders
The team that's choked is... LA Galaxy
luck of the draw, eh?

Why 8 groups with 3 teams? Did I miss something? Or is CONCACAF just showing how fucking stupid they are? One more team to be added to each group later? I'm too lazy to do any of the footwork.
Nope, new format.
- 3 teams a group, 2 matches at home, 2 away.
- (8) winners advance and start with the quarter finals next spring, 2nd and 3rd go gome.
- US and MEX teams can't be drawn in same group.
- Max 5 MLS teams can participate (MLS Cup Winner, Supporters Shield Winner, US Open Cup Winner and 1 more) + winner of Canadian "Championship" aka semifinal/final ko round played by Vancouver, Montral , Toronto and Edmonton)
resoning behind is more or less, less fixture congestion with 2 group games less, less travel wear and tear, less costs for smaller leagues and teams + "big" teams aka MLS and MEX only meet in KO stages.

In order to take part in the 2013-2014 edition the G's need to:
- win the current 2012-2013 CCL? (haven't found that out oddly enough)
or do on of the following: The four teams qualifying from the United States are the two MLS Cup finalists, the winner of the MLS Supporters' Shield , and the winner of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (Sporting Kansas City)
Should the same team qualify multiple times and/or should a Canadian team occupy one or more of the MLS qualifying places, then the American MLS team(s) with the best regular season records not otherwise qualified will be entered.
