Anyone have an opinion on Ryan Sailor from the other side? He was the next defender picked after Nocita.

Struber's approach to the squad rotation through this stretch has been interesting. Rather than letting guys sit for an entire game and refresh, he's giving guys 40-60 minutes every game.

Injuries to Clark and Fletcher were poorly timed, but you can't expect everyone healthy all the time. Unfortunately I'm just not sure the rest of the depth guys give us much.

Edelman is the one guy I would have expected to pick up more minutes over the last few weeks. I thought he looked at least good enough to fill in for 90 minutes without the team falling apart.

This was going to be one of the toughest parts of the schedule and we did ok.

The miami game just shows that we lack depth. A lot of tired legs. We still have a few more games once we are done with this scheduling nightmare.

We should have started more reserve players for this game. Guys like ngoma, Edelman, castellano, ryan, pendant and clark should have started.

Yes, I think things that some us were worried about at the beginning of the year in terms of depth is what's really coming to really hurt us as the season goes along. Losses of folks like Duncan and Gutman are weighing in heavy in latest performances. Nealis is a subpar player, and he played A LOT. That is a big downgrade from Duncan. What's worse is that now that Tolkin is out, without Gutman, there is a huge drop off no matter whom we put in there. It's no coincidence that without Tolkin we just put up two absolute worse performances of the season.

Heck, even loss of Davis, though seemed like fully remediated by emergence of Amaya, after some time you can see that is being felt now as Amaya is making some costly mistakes defensively that Davis didn't make last year. Even against Miami, he didn't do enough to stop that shot, resulting in a goal, plus was involved in two goals against last time. Another loss was Fabio, who at least brought some occasional spark at striker, something Barlow and Fletcher haven't done. The heavy losses of numerous starters we suffered last year, while initially were covered up, are beginning to mount as the season gets deeper and deeper.

Yes we are missing depth Clark, Wiki, Fletcher, Reyes (not really depth) Monzon.  Now Tolkin.

Not sure I understand with Edelman unless the plan is he starts Wed USOC.

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

In terms of depth, our real issue is at the fullback spot. No real left back backup and we waste Morgan when he plays as a fullback. CBs were good, its just that Reyes AND Monzon are injured. CMs are good, we have Yearwood, Amaya, CCJ & Edelman. Good at attacking mid with Luq, Morgan, & Omir and Clark & Wiki when healthy. Forward is less of a depth issue, and more that our starters havent been great. Barlow obviously isnt a great backup option, but ideally your 3rd striker shouldnt have to see this many minutes.

Seattle struggled in the league when they were focusing on CCL and had a lot of games. Its hard to have backups as good as your starters in MLS. And Im glad Struber is rotating instead of taking the approach to the Open Cup that DC went with and getting knocked out.

Considering how hes rotated recently to make sure the Open Cup squad is strong, I think the teams been ok. Lets see what they can do when they only have the league to focus on.

I agree, forward is not a depth issue. We dont have anyone that is competent that can play that position.

Barlow is not even good enough to be the 3rd striker or in MLS.

Moving forward, The team should have clark and omir as the forwards.

The team should look for a longterm solution at forward and dump the current guys

Need a LB. Need to stop rotating through so many options at RB/RWB, establish a clear hierarchy and use it

If everyone is healthy and available, play Morgan there and let Luquinhas and Omir run the attacking midfield, if Morgan gets shifted to the attacking mid, put Harper at RWB. Nealis should be the third option at most.

Fletcher needs to get healthy or go away, no use in having him on the roster when his absence leads to more minutes for Barlow.

The flip side to this that nobody really talks about is that Morgan might not be a particularly good fullback. He's done well there in games where we were on the front foot attacking for 90 minutes, but I think he's shown recently that he's not a great defender. From what we heard, he wasn't impressive in that role for Miami last year either.

Hopefully with Harper gaining Struber's confidence and rumors swirling of that Brazilian LB over the summer, that'll be enough of a depth chart to keep Morgan further up field.

I said fullback, but hes mostly played wingback. Point is still the same, like you said, he should be further up the pitch.

Struber is taking the Open Cup serious. I think he was just saving Luq for Wednesday against Charlotte. I dont have an issue with that.

With hindsight, I would say he was taking the Open Cup seriously.

i think he plays or tries to play the wingback position because it is his pathway to the  Scottish NT
