You only have to look at 2018's TFC to see what happened to the last BEST ALL TIME MLS TEAM that stood still and ran it back... and that was without losing a NT player of Tyler's caliber.

Renewing contracts, signing draft picks and not getting an impact TAM player at least is a really low bar for "a pretty amazing offseason".

if our age profile wasn't so much younger than Toronto's I would agree with you.  We have much better depth than they did though, and have a much younger team.  Besides a BWP injury we would be able to withstand a month injury to any starter without the team collapsing.  B/B+ grade is fair, amazing maybe not the right word.

It's a shame to hear that - any more details you care to share? I was really hoping he'd contribute this year after a full preseason and more time with the team.

When you look at our other winger options its very clear 1) what they bring to the table and 2) they play to those strength.  Muyl has his work rate/pressing, Derrick is good 1 v 1 and Epps is very quick with the ball.  Ivan is a balanced version of these guys but for a guy with his salary he doesn't get involved enough in positive attacking moments.  He had one good run down the line that led to a ball that a defender cleared before Epps had a tap-in.  Beyond that I don't remember anything else he did really well.  He doesn't appear to play "fast enough" to be dangerous in transition, and thats a lot of our offense.  And with a bunch of younger cheap guys that are as good as you in the system, no point of having you here.  I dont think he is a bad player, but it doesnt look like its working out with how we play

by locking up Taxi, Parker and Long in last 4 months or so I am happy with the offseason.  Good to see the club finally dipping into the self funded TAM pot and keeping the core of the team together.

Agree

We gained Tarek, CCJ ,Koffi, Epps, (from injury Mines, Valot, Beze ,Duncan) , Fernandez, Jorgensen , Nealis (plus  other Draft picks ).

We  lost Adams (big loss) , Escobar , Ndam

Overall I feel good about this team , my main concern is we need a proven back-up for BWP , I guess we will have to wait and see if White or Jorgensen can fill this need..If not we should have $ to bring in someone, in early summer (Assuming ownership is willing to spend).

forgot who said this before but i dont think we can ever get a "proven backup" for BWP unless they play another a position.  No good striker will sign with us to backup BWP all year since we play a one forward formation.  That is why I think going with the younger guys and hoping to develop them is a better approach.
If only though we could waive Andy Ivan and have a do over to sign a pricey winger alternative, even if its below DP levels.  From what i saw last night he should be behind Muyl, Etienne and Epps on the depth chart.

Based upon what I saw in preseason (only 2 games as a sub) I really like Fernandez as a backup for Kaku , I also like Mines as a winger although he seems to get pushed around a lot

curious from what you saw among Fernandez and Mines who do you think looks more like a first team player right now?
