Long and parker make roughly 800k. They could both be considered DPs if rbny doesnt buy down their salary with garber bucks.

Kemar makes roughly 400k. He is not starving or being underpaid. i dont see a fullback in mls that is making more than him.

Jorge Villafana ($600k), Brad Smith ($550k), Ronald Matarrita ($420k ) and Ali Adnan ($1.2M) all get paid more.

I think the main issue here is that the guy just signed a contract.  You can't get in the habit of just ripping up contracts every year based on how a player plays.  Especially because a player isn't exactly going to take less if they have a crappy year.

And while Taxi is great, he has a habit of missing games being with the national team, and through injury.  Being available is just as important as being good.

That's kinda the thing - when a guy wants out, and you don't want to pay him, his only option is to play great for a year to increase his value.  Then when he only has a year left on his contract, you renegotiate to lock him and make everyone happy.   Or, he has a bad year and then there's that.

interesting... villafana has a great agent.

brad smith could also play midfield so i can see why he is getting paid 550k. He is also prob going to the epl this offseason. If this happens, seattle could be a destination for kemar.

Never heard of as ali or matarrita. Do folks think he should make more thsn ali?

The Ali deal is a bad one they way overpaid.

Taxi deserves a slightly increased deal but him seeing long and Parker sitting at 700/800k makes him getting 400 hard to deal with.

If Long leaves, then bump up Taxis salary. But the unknown is what is forcing Taxis hand to request a trade. Or maybe he knows something we dont, from the locker room perspective, and wants out from this Team that is going nowhere.

No need to complicate it.  He got locked into a deal he thought was good at the time, then saw Long and Parker's money and wants more.

Kemar is worth as much as any of these players ,and  with Parker and Long getting 800K , RB should renegotiate his Contract 6-700k

in general i agree but i think as a club you are responsible for identifying your most important 3 guys and just making sure they are happy.  If Kemar is among of 3 most important players (which i think he is) then you got to figure out a way to make him happy.

I read somewhere that they way TAM is allocated is something the players association wants to be part of this years negotiations. It is not consistent and young players like Taxi most times are not eligible to have their contracts bought down. It has mostly been used for young foreign players. That is also why the team could not use those funds on Long and Parker contracts

he was important in the past. This season he had a few brain farts, lost a step and wasnt healthy. Asking for a raise after a disappointing season is a head scratcher. If he played like 2017 again, then of course give him the raise but we didnt see that this year.

Probably thinks that he was the best player on the team this past season. Or, is upset that others make more.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

The league stopped caring about us when the slavers ponied up money for the abortion across the river.

best post I have read in a long time... The truth yet the cynical humor... Love it lol...

Pay Taxi whatever he wants he's the best left back in the league and has been for years and he should be taking the free kicks and corners

Have they renegotiated with Kemar yet... The guy is an all star and the fire he brought especially that game versus Atlanta at the start of the season for me shows that now he's the best fit for the Captain armband

Quotes from Taxi:

Is this club gonna figure out how to work with him after he turns 30?... I get the Red Bulls are always trying to make a decision that’s best for them, but when do you look on my side and be like what’s best for Kemar? They won’t, so I have to look out for me.

The way things are lining up this year, it doesn’t seem like we’re in the mindset to run for a championship. It seems like we’re going back into a rebuilding structure, you get me? … I’m just not into all that, to be honest.

It always feels like we don’t want to pay somebody to keep them or get the right persons. Always trying to save some money or do something the cheaper way instead of investing in somebody and watching it turn over, you get me?

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.
