RFK Stadium crumbles into pieces in the new X-Men movie. TBH, that's some pretty poor writing because there's no way in hell that shit hole would make it that far into the future anyway.

DC is trying to find a place because they pay high rent for an old crumbling stadium and see pennies of income in return, they're bleeding money profusely. The Revs are in a totally different situation, they pay nothing and collect on concessions, and the stadium is only a little over a decade old. There is no immediate need for them to have a SSS plan in place.

there's no immediate need from an ownership viewpoint, but from the fan's viewpoint, different story.

Now it's the RedBulls fans. they may be even louder than the DC guys who, for reasons beyond imagining, had 50 seats saved for them up front.

That's a different topic altogether. If they marketed the team, brought in a legitimate DP, run the rail line for Revs games, install a soccer friendly turf, actually invest in the team itself, they could definitely make it work. Yes, an SSS is ideal, for the atmosphere alone. But the Revs were a good draw at The Fort, they could successfully utilize Gillette if done properly. The Krafts just don't care.

It does make you wonder if they could get a $100M fee a la NYCFC, would they sell? Boston is certainly a big enough potential market if they could get a in-town/near-town stadium deal, especially if they are the only team in town. You have to think the Fenway group will be watching NY closely to see if is worth duplicating the model.
