No.

My understanding is that real maple syrup comes from Vermont and New Hampshire. The Canada v. New England thing is hotly contested among syrup aficionados, but that may change soon. With global warming, real maple syrup will only come from Norway and Alaska.

However, much of Vermont, including, sadly, the diner I wrote about above, is no longer there.

Bummer.... on both fronts.

A Norweigan soccer and syrup pilgrimage it is then...

I'm off the boards for a couple of days and the whole thread goes south... or north since the syrup is north and the games south... anyway...

So after all the "drama" The game v. Morelia will be at... *drum roll*... the HDC

This is good, since the next two games will be in some of North America's most hostile environments. Personally, I thought they might try and play it at the Coliseum and advertise it to Morelia fans...

Motagua up 1-0 on Alajuelense in the opening minutes - a good score for the Gs if it holds.

Alajuelense ties it up like 5 minutes before halftime. I think that's still okay, as long as they don't actually win.

(Sorry for the vagueness; the only player on the pitch I know by name is Pando)

Aaaaaaad CRAP: Alajuelense goes up 2-1 a few minutes into the second half.

Motagua free kick from the top of the box ties it 2-2 midway through the second half!

Re-crap: Alajuelense knocks in a shot during a scramble in front to the goal to go up 3-2 I think about 10 minutes from the end.

Then a minute later an Alajuelense striker on a breakaway chips the keeper to make it 4-2. So we're looking at a three way tie for lead in the group.

So... at the beginning of the tournament who thought TFC would knock out FCD... and have a chance to win their group?

Mixed feelings on Morelia's 2-1 win over Alajuelense.

If LDA won, we would need only a draw to advance.

Because Morelia won, we are now in a MUST win to advance; and because Morelia scored 2 goals (and we are tied with them in every other category) we MUST win by 4 goals (or win by 3 and score at least 5) in order to win the group.

Gato had a very bad day in goal for FCD.

On the plus side, as far as advancing to the next round, any kind of win will get us through: If we win, Motagua will be 0-6, and everyone else in the group will be 4-2 with 12 points, so it would come down to goal differential.

Morelia's sitting pretty at 11 goals for, and 5 against, while Alajuelense has 8 for and 6 against. Right now the Gs have 7 for and 4 against, so a win would necessarily leave us with a better goal differential than Alajuelense.

But first, we gotta win the game Thursday.
