#1357088 Contract deadline day

Posted by sec201 on 21 November 2019 - 10:59 PM

I understand on BWP, and will be understanding on Robles if the club puts the salary savings to good use.

Sad as I am to see Robles go, Im happy for Meara.  He was our number one way back under Backe, got a freak injury, and never got his job back.  Hes been waiting for this for a LONG time.

#1356382 Bring back Sims

Just saw another article from Dylan Butler that indicates Sims wants to stay, but the loan didnt have a purchase option.  Article made it sound like the clubs might try and work something out.  Article has direct quotes from Sims.

#1355929 Lade retires

Posted by sec201 on 23 October 2019 - 08:54 AM

Let's not make Lade into a hero. Longevity does not equal quality. He was a borderline MLS 2.0 role player that - when he was on the field - teams regularly targeted as an obvious weak spot.

But don't worry, if you want to deify Lade, you've got a younger, slightly taller, slightly worse option in Buckmaster still on the roster today.

Look, he came through the academy, had horrible luck with injuries and always gave his all.  Does he deserve a bust outside the stadium?  No.  But does he deserve recognition and admiration?  For sure.

Single elimination throughout

The format we needed in our three shield years!

How thoroughly have you researched this?

About as closely as you did:

I cant remember being this unenthused for a game. Probably since before the stadium opened.   But Im a glutton, so Ill stay up to watch.  Just hope the team is more up for the game than I am.

Not going to read much into losing this game.  If anything, I was happy about the effort in the first half, when we were the better team.

More concerning is that the writing was on the wall with Murillo for some time and that we didn't line up an adequate replacement during the transfer window.   I have said that Hamlett deserves the benefit of the doubt for not signing DP-level players, because his hands are likely tied.  But I think that the failure to deal/sell Murillo during the transfer window and line up an adequate replacement falls squarely on Hamlett.

in the same vein, i think ppl wanted a duo that produced more goals and assists than the Grella-Sam combo did. We've got Royer doing his bit on one side, but still looking for the complementary piece on the opposite side that can try and match Royer's offensive production.

Not only did they score goalsGrella and Sam were fun to watch.

His parents are from France.

Hes gonna have a tough choice when Les Bleus come calling

#1349564 EPL Interest in Aaron Long

If we had any CB depth, I would even be okay with a summer sale.  I think we could make due with a Parker-Tarek tandem, but there's nobody, and I mean NOBODY, behind them.  The drop off is so steep.  Nealis has looked okay at times, but, more often than not, he's been terrible.  I think with more seasoning he can be a solid squad player, but he is not there yet.

#1349345 Hamlett is in so far over his head

Posted by sec201 on 17 July 2019 - 05:24 PM

Hamlett is in so far over his head, its an embarrassment.  I would think that he has nothing at all going on for a transfer, unlike every other sporting director in MLS.

I believe 1 or 2 things happen in the transfer market for us:

1:  RB Europe unloads a player to us in the next month that is a surplus to requirements to them.  Just a way to unload salary and a spot for their more important teams.

2. Another sporting director tricks Hamlett into taking a player that used to be good but sucks now.  Basically, selling Hamlett on a relclamation project.  This guy can revive his career in the right environment like RBNY.  Then laugh when Hamlett takes the bait.

This post makes a lot of assumptions (which are probably unwarranted).  Hamlett answers to others.  The club has a philosophy, and Kaku notwithstanding, its to do things on the cheap.  And we are going through scouting upheaval, having just canned out main scout.  Not sure you can lay this at Hamletts feet.  For all we know, hes begging Austria to allow him to sign multiple players.

I agree with this.

It's also crazy that, for as good as White has been, his minutes/goal ratio in the league this season is worse than BWP's ratio over his ENTIRE tenure here. 1 goal every 152 minutes for White, 1 goal every 132 minutes for BWP.

Well, I'd hazard a guess and say that BWP's numbers were way, way worse over his first however many minutes with the club, when compared with White's.  In his first half season here, people were calling him a dud.

#1349252 How is Kemar Lawrence Still in MLS?

Posted by sec201 on 15 July 2019 - 01:08 PM

I think his lack of a right foot is the reason.  It's the same reason that I think Lindpere never made it in a top European league.

#1349145 What is Muyl good at?

Posted by sec201 on 14 July 2019 - 11:17 PM

He scores and the throw-in/corner matters less.

Thank god we won, or he would have been excoriated.  Dude was otherwise great tonight.   And he does so many things well.  However, he cant seem to get out his own way.
