The final will be held at the 84,953-capacity MetLife Stadium, which is home to NFL sides the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

That's exciting because it means the USMNT will get to play in the tournament. [/sarcasm]

Some odd/interesting choices:

China, seriously? Italia, no amore for the US & Canada?
SA & Zimbabwe prefer NorthAm to NorthAfrica.

We are good enough to beat the best teams, and bad enough to lose to the worst teams.

I noticed one strange thing-- that America Samoa voted for the United bid. The 3 other US territories "did not vote" - Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and the USA itself "did not vote".  Somebody forgot to tell them the protocol.

edit: likewise, Mexico and Canada "did not vote". Also Morocco "did not vote".

I guess its cool, though I would have been content with someone else getting it and never seeing Canada make it to the world cup.

I guess this means there will be like 8 CONCACAF sides in it?  How many teams are going to be in the Finals in 2026 anyway?  It seems like they add 2-4 teams every 8-12 years.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

48 which is ridiculous but more money to be made for an organization, FIFA, who had a billion in cash four years ago iirc.

Sometimes I think the entire Red Bull existence has been some 19 year old kids football manager save file he only plays when he comes home drunk. - 'Mibabalou'

Probably 6, of a total of 48, with the hosts guaranteed.

Only 2 games per team in group stage of 16 groups of 3.

32 will advance to knockout stage, so 3rd game on is straight elimination.

It means 17 more games than the current structure. I look the four team groups rather than the 16 groups of 3 model, but need to see it in action once before totally writing it off.

"Obviously, I want to make a living (in soccer), to say the least," he said. "There's so much you can accomplish in the soccer world, and right now I'm focused on having a good season with the Red Bulls. Ultimately, our goal is to win the MLS Cup, and I see no reason why we can't." - #4 Tyler Adams

A lot of previous final group games have been meaningless.

cool
Frankly, since I am merely a fan and a not a fancy American soccer writer, I'm going to congratulate Wright-Phillips on a well hit goal. If I was an American soccer writer, I'd claim that the recently retired Henry was wearing an invisibility cloak and carried the ball into the net for the obviously unskilled Wright-Phillips.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

Not surprising, it happens even more so with the Olympics. The whole system is really quite a joke. At least we have the infrastructure in place for the world cup without having to build brand new stadiums.
