Per Ives, Najem's rights were traded to Philly.

Just fantastic.

Guess it was between Basuljevic and Najem.

We couldn't scrape together an extra 30k to keep one of our own?! Ridiculous.

a trade implies that we get something in return, so what did we get for najem?

I will hold off commenting until I know what we received in return.

On the surface, this is an atrocious move.

Ugh, Philly
But I think Najem was always reluctant to sign with us, and then we lowballed him. He was one of the top rated college players this season.

More funny money we can pat ourself on the back for and not actually spend.

If you scan YouTube looking for Bradley Wright-Phillips, youll find numerous goal compilations, a few interviews and, eventually, an excerpt from the grime mixtape series Lord of the Mics.

bizarre

Assuming they could sign him for ~80K

30K premium to get access to a kid that sounds like he would have been top 10 in the draft.

Unless the kid had much higher salary demands.

Kind of a dumb - - we don't get anything for having the money in the bank.

Is their a list of salaries for top 10 draft picks the last few years.  Also, what do Gen Addidas contracts go for?

Bradley Wright-Phillips "I prefer it at Red Bull Arena, but it was OK. I could imagine it being good for a baseball crowd.

Is he a CM? How far down the depth chart would he have been? Behind Davis, Adams, Valot, etc...?

I think it's pretty clear they don't think he projects well to MLS, or even perhaps the system.   The amount of money in this case can't be significant.. There are a lot of different ways to save much more money.

I believe so, but I think you pay them out of your own pocket. So another case of Red Bull being cheap?

In the case of Najem, I have a hard time believing that money was the issue (maybe a 100k difference was likely the gap?) especially considering there are other ways to save more money.

Hell, look at the Veron transfer.

Just leads me to believe that they didn't like Najem for whatever reason.  And if they traded him to Philly, that means they are confident he's not going to be very good.
