The delayed Euro 2020 tourney is set to kick off next Friday. France are the bettor's favorite to win - and they'll bring a squad that's very similar to their world cup winning side.

I put $100 on them to win the tourney at +500 on Draft Kings. Their group is tough - Germany/Hungary/Portugal - but I think they'll still win the group.

Karim Benzima has been called up by France for Euro 2020/2021 after a 6 year exile. Karim Benzima's  success with Real Madrid shows that he is a world-class striker. And  Benzima's coach at Real Madrid for the most part was French legend Zinedine Zidane. Why in the world did France ignore him?

And without him, France won the 2018 World Cup. The following article explains the apparent reason:

I plunked down $100 on Italy at I think +950 or +1000, based mostly on nothing, just to have something to root for.

They should have no problems in the group , especially since theyll play all three games in Rome, while the rest of the group has to shuttle between Rome and Baku.

But theyre definitely talent deficient vs France, Belgium, and some of the other top teams.

I was at the Italy-Greece match in 2019 where Italy clinched a spot in the Euros. Fun time.

Italy is pretty good. I think they are one of the favorites.

I usually like to do one main bet and one smaller backup bet in tourneys like this. I might throw $25 on Italy as well, those are pretty good odds. Barring some sort of complete collapse i really think France takes this one though. All their players are hitting their primes - I just hope the inclusion of Benzema doesn't negatively affect the locker room.

Thanks to Covid, the Euros and Copa America are being played at the same time.

Sunday's schedule:

9:00  England v. Croatia

12:00  Austria v. North Macedonia

3:00  Netherlands v. Ukraine

5:00  Brazil v. Venezuela

8:00  Colombia v. Ecuador

That's pretty crazy.

Good start by Italy. First time they score 3.

Pretty insane stat.  I know all about their defensive history and the catenaccio system, but you'd think they would've scored 3 in a game by accident given they'd played 37 matches at the Euros all-time coming into today.

Seems he's on the mend. Very scary. Brought back memories of Fabrice .
