Where do I start?
Who else did I miss?
This thread is a side note to the fact that the Section needs to start using "I Lie" as a chant. I beg our capos to learn this and I promise free beer to our drummers if they learn it. To the rest of the section, listen to it once and I hope it sticks in your head like it has in mine.
Black Flag?

"I Lie" would make a good chant. That is no lie. Thanks for the link.
Look into FEAR. Emphasis on FEAR The Record.

OK, I didn't start to like The Clash until around five or six years ago. I was sidetracked in the early 80's by Hair Metal, only to be saved by The Butthole Surfers.
I met my dear wife Sarah when I was doing security at a Butthole Surfers show at The Vic in 1991.

I Lie is on the Basement Screams Ep- Their first recorded Material
Good stuff, but not the best recording.
All of the records are good , but their best in my opinion is"All Rise" and "Throb, Throb".
All of the cds were reissued on touch and go records.
They have reunited and have played shows around, live they are definately
a good time.
Also make sure to check out a band called Pegboy( ex Raygun)
Strong Reaction/ Three Chord Monte cd is a classic
Ben here are the lyrics for " I Lie " from the cd
I Lie
right to your face
not cause I want to
or have to,
cause you make me
lie to your face.
I hate your guts
you stupid
Shnot!!!!

The intro to I Lie is instantly recognizable, and crowds have always joined in on it pretty quick.

Damn. I was at that show. One of, if not my favorite show of all times. Gibby pouring lighter fluid on a symbol and lighting it on fire then crashing it incessantly. I was in the pit at the front of the show and was practically burned to a crisp. My good friend got a combat boot to the back and the footprint was still on the shirt five years later when we graduated from college.

Oh, and you should check out the "Punk's Not Dead" movie -- much better than "American Hardcore". Of course we're all waiting for "You Weren't There" to come out hopefully in October, since it's all about the local Chicago scene through the 80's.
As far as other local bands: Strike Under, Life Sentence

For my money there's few finer punk bands than The Exploited. I also like the Templars a lot and The Misfits are always fun.
Oh yeah, and GG ALLIN.

Hunt down through used and indy record stores WNUR's "Middle of America" compilation. All the brillant Chicago bands in one tremendous package. If you can find a copy of the comp. "Busted at OZ", consider yourself smiled upon by the Gods.
Any number of Nayked Raygun songs would be great for the sing along choruses, which usually consist of "Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, oohhh" in varying forms.

2 words: Negative Approach
Whilst eating at Sgt. Pepperoni, in Detroit, I saw John Brannon drinking alone. He looked like an angry man. My friend needs to find his bootleg of the complete FEAR set from SNL. Brannon was there and yelled something to the effect of "New York...the Motor City is going to kick your ass!". At least that's what I've been told. NA is a great band. Too bad I missed the St. Andrew's gig back in May.
Ben, I can loan you my NA cd if you care to partake.
