I'm thrilled with the job JCO did this season. But Guppy would be a fool if he doesn't at least test the water to find out how much RBNY is willing to give up for JCO.

Altidore AND JPA

i have no problem with teams going after other coaches under contract with other teams. it means the MLS finally has coaches worth going after, which is testament to a growing league.
for altidore-osorio would be TERRIBLE as altidore has to be heading overseas sometime in the very near future. osorio-DP slot, that would make me smile.

What, you want him too, biotch?? :P

I'm surprised that this is even an issue. Both Guppy and Osorio fled New York when they were the Metrostars. I highly doubt Osorio would want back in that shithole despite the flowery new name plate and bigger pockets. No surprise that Guppy isn't budging on any of this. God I hate New York.

God I hate New York.

Sounds like a great shirt/scarf/banner idea. Take off the I (heart) NY.

Done a few years ago... We (club) NY

Other ideas
I hate NY
I loathe NY

Or include pictures
I (ambulance) NY
I (middle finger) NY
I (fist) NY

You get the idea...

You know, seriously, RBNY should stop this crap (if it's true). It's 1 thing to take a coach who is still under contract to another team. It's another if, after failing to steal a coach under contract with a team in their league, they continue trying to do the same thing.

Can I nominate this for post of the year?

Thanks for the compliment but, "Post of the Year" (if not all-time) was won back on March 26 with "Stand and Deliver." Besides, I can think of 3 others off the top of my head more worthy:
1) Marcin's post about brothels in India and trannies,
2) tzimaki's observation about Wanchope resembling a high school kid whacked out on sweet, sweet cheeba and trying to solve math equations at the blackboard,

and (my favorite comedic post):

3) "DOWN GOES FRAZIER!"

Agreed, post of this year or any other for that matter...

I'd bet on Osorio leaving at this point. From Luis:

After it was reported by multiple news outlets that Red Bull New York was interested in speaking with Fire head coach Juan Carlos Osorio, Fire GM John Guppy confidently stated that Osorio would remain with the team.

"Juan Carlos Osorio will be the coach of the Chicago Fire in 2008," Guppy insisted in mid-November. When asked if he could guarantee Osorio's return, Guppy responded, "As much as you can guarantee anything in life."

Guppy would repeat those sentiments nearly every week after that but changed his tune on Friday. Asked to respond to a source's claim that New York remains highly interested in Osorio and he is interested in them, Guppy this time responded, "No comment."

(NOTE: In what is unusual for Guppy, it took several phone calls, an email, and a text message over a span of two days to get him to respond)

Osorio, who was an assistant with New York from 2000-2001, could be enticed by the free-spending habits of owner Dietrich Mateschitz— founder of the energy drink. Bruce Arena was the highest paid manager in MLS before he parted ways with the club on Nov. 5.

Edit: sixkick, beating me to the punch...

Hrmph. We'd better get a DP slot out of it at the very least.

God fucking dammit. I'm starting to feel like this might happen.

Squeeze the fuckers for all they're worth. Start putting a clause in our coach's contracts requiring a pound of flesh if they leave for a divisional rival.

I'm perhaps more upset what this might mean for Conde.

I feel the same way. I hope the door hits him on the ass... and hard. Make it worth our while.

I'll say this:

If we get fucked in this deal, we're going to be a dangerous mob at the draft in Baltimore.
