If Fraser is the tactical, X's and O's guy behind what we currently have I am horrified to see what Petke would do on his own.

And if that's the case, what exactly does Petke do? Not to badmouth the guy, but if Fraser is the tactical mastermind of this operation and has his hands in on who starts, besides for not subbing in guys when he's supposed to what does Petke really do?

This is all speculation, we really have no idea what goes on in training and the locker room.

Horrified? LOL! Y'all act like the man can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Damn! Cut the dude a break already, will ya?

Its kind of true though, right now we play just about the most basic tactics imaginable, both when we're attacking and defending.  If Frasier is really the one who got us at least that far (which of course right now is baseless speculation), then it'd be a big blow if he left.  We don't beat teams by outsmarting them from the sidelines, the foundation of our tactics is to keep a rigid defensive shape and hope that our individually talented attackers can make something happen going forward. There's no clever overlapping other than Miller occassionally, no real movement side to side to pull defenders out of position, we just get the ball to the likes of Henry/BWP/Sam and let em run with it.

After his comments during the USOC match, i'd say you are better off without him.

Yeah can anyone provide any evidence for what decisions come from Petke and which from Fraser? Cause it sounds like people are just making shit up continuously.

"assured of " Petke being inferior to Lalas, or to Fraser?

Party People,

Everything that statement was about Lalas and Petke. I know it is in the Fraser thread, but, that was only because Lalas brought up the Fraser thing during the RBNY game.

I think Lalas was trying to undermine Petke by starting Robin Fraser shit (or, at least airing it) where it doesn't exist. Fraser had a chance to leave and didn't last year. By all accounts he has a pretty significant input in operations here, and he welcomes that. I think he would leave to be a HC, as all former HCs that become assistants to pay the bills would. But, I think Fraser is a reasonably solid dude, and isn't trying to do anything other than look out for number 1. And even then, I don't think he is  keeping his options open in any way to mess with Petke; he probably just looks around and sees Orlando, maybe Miami and wants to keep his hat in the proverbial ring.

Lalas thinks Lalas is better than Petke, and I guess you could argue that he had a better playing career. Certainly a lot more USMNT games, and a more heralded player, though I wonder how much of that was really him being famous for being on the '94 team and having crazy hair. Eddie Pope was better than either of them and that dude has basically joined the witness protection program when it comes to the media, despite having a platform and still being involved in Soccer.

Back to Lalas though, Lalas thinks Lalas is the shit, and that Petke having a coaching job is an insult to him somehow. March of Petke's first season, Lalas was already going 'Well, how long is that going to last? I can see him getting fired mid-season'. Dude won a shield, and didn't get fired. So there's that.

the Luyindula to midfield move was suggested by Fraser and approved by Petke. I can't find any of the articles, but this was reported multiple places last year.

Fraser also is responsible for setting up the practices which Petke also approves.

Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me? Or indeed with wit to understand me?

Well that makes all of this very awkward (but not contradictory)...

I have to say that Alexi Lalas was a mentor during my playing days. I called him up a year before I retired. I had no clue what the next step was, and shouldn’t I know what the next step would be. I was still playing, and he said that things would happen. Once I decided to retire with the Red Bulls and they asked me if I might be interested in joining the coaching staff it sparked my interest right away. Believe me, it wasn’t the easiest thing. But I just started to love it.

Wasn't the Luyindula move obvious to everyone watching the game?

If Frazier leaves, then we should get some draft picks.

I dont think it is the end of the world if he goes to another team. We should thank him for his services but we already have his replacement. Woly's youth and reserves teams have contributed to the first team. We got Oyongo, Duvall, and Miazga who contributed this season. We also had a sprinkle of Bover and  and Obekop look to be okay. So not worried if he leaves. These young guys have shown improvement. He can use this experience to help improve the first team.
